Fretwire on a AV52RI

Hey guys! What size fretwire is used on an AV52RI?

I couldn't find it online anywhere. Thanks!

The wire changes a bit from time to time, depending on their supplier, but it's generally between .035" and .045" high, and generally the equivalent of Dunlop 6230.

If it happens to be a particular guitar that you like the feel of, then measure the wire for your own reference. Height seems to be the most important for feel, but the width of the wire makes a difference not only in psychological effect but also in the feel of the crown shape as you move your fingers up and down.

To accurately measure the height, lay a good ruler across a few frets, and use a stack of feeler gauges between the fretboard and the ruler. You can get an approximate measure of the width using a pair of calipers, but it won't be exact if the fretwire is flush against a fretboard. Then if you spec out a neck, or have fretwork done, you can specify the wire by it's dimensions (e.g. .047" x .095"). You'd be surprised how the Dunlop wire system has gotten confusing especially because other makers use similar but not identical codes, and guitar manufacturers tend to use their own custom spec'd wire sourced from various places. I appreciate how Jescar changed their catalog numbers so they make sense (so the example I gave above, my favorite size, is called FW47095).

Mine measure about .030 to .032 from top of fret to fretbaord surface, but the finish
on the fretboard is reducing the measurement. So maybe closer to .035 - .038?
You have to allow for the finish thickness if measuring to fretboard surface.

Width is hard measure with the finish running up the sides, but looks like .085.

The 6230 listed here is pretty much it. I agree with Megafiddle the coating reduces the effective height of the finished fret.
