rbrown June 15th, 2011, 06:13 PM I wanted to start a thread for all those out there who come on here wondering who to go to for a custom cut Tele or Strat body and hardware. I'm sure a lot of you will join me in showing off your Rutter's bodies and stories of Marc's great work. As soon as I get more time tonight I will post the story that made me write this, pics to follow
Rutter guitars (http://www.ruttersguitars.com/home.html)
rbrown June 15th, 2011, 06:29 PM For starter's this was my second time purchasing a custom body from Marc. I ordered one of his in stock bodies he lists on his website which can be cut to your specs. After about 3 weeks I shot him an email asking how it was coming along. He informed me that he had messed up the wire routing between the middle and bridge pickups ( it would have been visible above bridge, see pics). He said it could be repaired but he wanted to cut me a new body instead. It took about another three weeks but today I received in the mail not just the corrected body( which was lighter and had better grain than the one I originally purchased) but also a repaired original body. Marc never told me he was doing this, and never tried to sell it to me at a reduced price.
I sent him an email asking if this was a mistake, and did he need me to mail it back, here was his response.
"Hey Rob,
Yep I could not send out a “Dutched” body so a replacement was in order and the original was an easy fix. With such a unique PU config it would have set on the shelf for years so better with you.
Glad you like the replacement.
Thanks!"
He is one classy guy

rbrown June 15th, 2011, 06:35 PM This is due to be a Brent Mason style tele
dog fart June 15th, 2011, 07:55 PM Yeah Mark is a classy guy, I've bought two bodies from him. The first was a light Pine body (3pounds 5oz) with a P-90 route in the neck. I used this for my piney. I bought a one pickup La Cab body in pine and some of his hardware last year. The body was great, but the hardware was outstanding. I highly recomend Mark's work
That reminds me I need to buy more hardware
garrett June 15th, 2011, 08:55 PM He's definitely an easy guy to deal with. I don't have one of his bodies, but they look great and they're priced right. Good to see that he stands behind his work.

Colt W. Knight June 15th, 2011, 09:04 PM The Marc Rutters "Rutters Cup" is the best thing to happen to the telecaster since Compensated Saddles, which Marc also makes.
mechaman327 June 15th, 2011, 09:14 PM +1 great guy to deal with and I love the pine body I bought from him.
Al Watsky June 15th, 2011, 09:20 PM +1 to all the above.....
starjag June 15th, 2011, 09:41 PM Count me in! His hardware is fantastic!

Rutters body, chopped bridge/compensated saddles (he drilled top-loader holes and threw the steel E/A saddle in for free; I'm gonna try it out next time I change strings), ferrules, shallow jack cup (he threw the jack in for free too), and he helped me get my TVJones PU for less than half of what it would have cost to buy in Japan, (and at no extra shipping cost)!
I caught him at a super busy time (around Christmas), so there were a couple hitches, but he made it up to me in spades, and the quality is great.
rirakuma June 15th, 2011, 11:59 PM The body is going to be butterscotch and neck is a 1" boatneck. Can't wait!

That's sick! Man I would love to have a dyna tele with a cadillac green top, bigsby and binding so it looks very gretschy.
doc w August 23rd, 2011, 12:00 PM I have been talking to Marc about a Tele (great guy, very informative and patient) and would love to hear some of your guitars. If you are not too shy, put a few licks up on youtube!
ErikW August 23rd, 2011, 12:14 PM I hope to be joining soon! - making my list of needs and wants: I'm thinking pine tele, Mary Kay or thin blond, all Marc hardware (bridge (drilled toploader), control plate, etc), USCG neck, and a Lollar Low Wind Imperial in the neck/Lollar '52 T bridge.
Brother Rob September 12th, 2011, 04:44 PM In.
I have a body, chopped bridge, jack cup, and other incidentals from Marc. Great guy and great products. I'll post a pic when assembled.
BoyNashville September 17th, 2011, 04:56 PM I recently ordered a Snakehead Tele Control Plate from Marc, I can't wait to get it in! I looked all over for that thing & couldn't find it but I heard about Marc on this website. I found the Snakehead Tele pickguard on Ebay & I'm currently waiting on it also. I'm ready to get this build started. I will be using a Warmoth neck & body which will be finished by Mike Gillentine at Main Street Vintage Guitars www.pwogs.com in Tupelo, MS. Here are my first 2 Warmoth builds... One is a replica of Brent Mason '68 tele & the other is a Brent Mason inspired tele but with a few more features.
nocaster67 September 28th, 2011, 10:26 PM Marc shipped my Tele body today. Can't wait!

Tweedledee November 12th, 2011, 08:19 AM I used Marc's bodies for two La Cabronita builds. I couldn't have been happier with the quality and with Marc's service. Great guy, great work.

Has anyone tried Marc's new "Burrito" bridge for American Standard Hardtail layout guitar bodies?
This should include these Blacktop Teles, am I right?
:^)
Love to know how they woikin' for ya.
rbrown December 15th, 2011, 09:14 AM yes I think the bridge was specifically designed to replace the new style bridges, all his other's replace the classic bridges
BoyNashville February 20th, 2012, 04:52 PM UPDATE on my snakehead tele build, I will not be using the Alder tele body from Warmoth! Mike Gillentine is building me a tele body out of the 200 year old pine he restored from the renovation of his guitar store Main Street Vintage Guitars which is connected to Tupelo Hardware where Elvis Presley got his 1st guitar at the age of 12 years old, so the wood used in my tele body was there when 12 year old Elvis & his mother walked in & bought the guitar that changed the history of music as we know it today.....
Carzee February 20th, 2012, 06:07 PM ahh cant wait!
http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/4267/img28642e.jpg
That beats 99.9per cent of anything I've ever seen from F CustomShop!
TB72 February 20th, 2012, 07:19 PM Yup, big fan of Mr. Rutters' work. I've got his hardware on my #1 touring tele. And I'll be shopping there again soon (Cabronita build in the works).
Later...
hwy145 February 20th, 2012, 07:29 PM I ordered a bunch of parts. They were chrome, save for the jack cup, which was nickel. He could have just shipped, but took the time to ask if I wanted all nickel parts. Yeah, it's a little thing, but it's the little things that set one apart. I'm definitely a fan.
esetter February 21st, 2012, 03:44 AM ahh cant wait!

BoyNashville February 23rd, 2012, 07:03 PM I ordered the replica Snakehead Tele bridge from Marc Rutters, I was going to just use a Fender Vintage bridge but I couldn't justify doing that lol..... The bridge on the left is what I was going with & the one on the right is Marc Rutters Snakehead bridge.....
hwy145 February 24th, 2012, 06:35 PM Wow, just received my hardware. Amazing! The bridge plating is quite cool. Amazing quality!

anonymous January 16th, 2013, 01:36 PM Just got a body and hardware from Marc Rutters and if someone is thinking of building or buying a tele I have a suggestion. Marc is great to work with and the body and hardware are just amazing. This one has a wenge neck and flame maple fretboard with Fred Stuart Blackguard pickups - rings like a bell and I have Marc to thank for that!
