I picked up some second hand EMG T Pups and a new control set for my nearly new (bought brand new 4/1/11) Fender Std. Tele (MIM). I got it out yesterday and started planning my attack on the previously untouched instrument. As I surveyed the bridge to see what kind of tools it would require to remove it and the control plate I noticed that one of the bridge mounting screws was gone. The hole was under the low e string saddle and unless the screws are super short I don't see how it could have fallen out. I think Fender just forgot to put one in it.
It appears that there are only five screws in the bridge and I think three of them hold and adjust the bridge pup. Is this correct or are there other screws under the saddles that I just can't see?
I'm thinking only one screw and the strings (through body) have been holding the bridge in place. I've played it a good bit since I got it and have never noticed a problem with it. Fender customer service took down my info and are sending me one.
Kind of strange don't you think?

I'm not sure what bridge you've got, but the standard has four screws that old it to the body (all in a line at the back where the bridges are). So, even if you are missing the one screw, you should be able to depend on the other three. I'd think if you were down to one screw that thing would have been moving around a little.
What is Fender sending you? A screw, the bridge, a replacement guitar?

Thanks for the heads up Ed,
I tried to take some pics with my cell phone but they are so bad they aren't worth posting. I call my bridge a modern flat bridge with six rectangular solid saddles.
I just asked Fender for a screw! It plays fine and I haven't noticed any movement at all. I'll gaze back up under the saddles again tonight and see if there are any more screws missing.

I just asked Fender for a screw!
Simple everyday hardware item and you try to get one from Fender? I'd say get a grip.

"Get a grip" Thanks for the warm responses guys!
Please pardon me for trying to strike up a conversation with some fellow guitar enthusiasts. Maybe I've accidentally stumbled across the Telecaster Expert Only Forum.
Guys, I'm fairly new to teles and maybe everyone isn't aware that Fender uses "simple everyday hardware" on their instruments. That's not the case with all manufacturers. And it's been my experience that if I ever put the guitar up for sale or trade that some people can be really picky about any replacement parts being non-original. I didn't call and pitch a fit because the screw was missing. It was more of a QC heads up that a guitar got past their inspection with an issue (even if a small one). The CSR offered to send the screw. I was satisfied with that and didn't ask for anything more.
It was simply a post about an experience that I was having with my new Fender Telecaster.
Now, if you'll all excuse me I have to go make some calls to try and locate a good therapist in the area. Would any of you be so kind as to recommend one of yours since they seem to be doing such a wonderful job with ya'll? :^)
