Picked up my stepdad's 1951 Gretsch Single Anniversary that I never knew he had, and couldn't believe the tone. He said he's gonna give it to me for my bday next week. But, I just wanted to know how many of you have one.
I believe the paint scheme is called Avocado Green or something like that, houses only one 'pup in the neck (maybe a hidden one in the bridge). I think it's a TV Jones, but not so sure. One volume, no tone control. But it plays as easy as a maple fretboard.

You might not really be able to tell in these pics, but the guitar has a few good cracks from the paint in it. And the wear you see on the back of the guitar, is REAL relic... not fake Fender aging! =P

If this info is correct it's a 1959. 1959 was when they put the nameplate on the peghead, 1960 and afterward models had Hilo Tron pups. Had a 66 Double in green as my first electric, would love to find another in decent shape

YES!
I own a sunburst model. Same pickup, but the surrounds are missing.
Mine is beat up, and the binding is loose, but the sound is awesome.
