for the past few weeks the TDPRI has been timing out on me regularly....it's incredibly frustrating and doesn't happen ANYWHERE else I go (except my work email, which does it even more frequently). Anyone else having similar connectivity issues?

Yes, I've noticed it too. I think it's the new ads they've got running. Strat Talk bogs out too. Apparently the forum won't load until after the ad loads... And the ad servers are what's timing out. If the forum is set not to load until the ad loads, and then the ad doesn't load, that means the forum doesn't load. I believe most of the offending ads are coming from:
http://googleads.g.doubleclick.net
I've been able to get around this by reloading the webpage on my browser, sometimes several times, until a different ad is cued by the advertising software...
It's annoying and I was tempted to start my own thread about it. Hopefully Google will fix this soon, I imagine it's a problem on other forums as well.

Me too, and that's Firefox.
Flaky adware, hope they're paying enough or ditch them.
Need to re-write the webpages so it doesn't wait for fluffyware.

Erm, block the doubleclick cookie in Firefox and delete it - much faster.
In fact you can do this with a lot of the common pests.

Funny, it did it while trying to read this thread. Think Wal-Mart the day after Thanksgiving, 1500 people trying to get through 4 doors...

I deleted all cookies and then tried again with the cookie notification turned on. Crikey! I've never seen a site try to set so many cookies, it's like a plague. Some are needed but there's serious issues with data security with others (tracking cookies).

I'm having response issues too. Tried to post a reply early to one thread and the page returned a blank and would not refresh. Lost all the text and it was a detailed reply.
Some pages are taking an age to load.
No viruses or adware on my PC and I logged on fresh this morning.

I did block google ads, just because they were hosting the "groupon" ads.
As to how, I wont tell you because I assume these ads pay for the site

From best we can gather this issue effecting a subset of users that have set up their browser and internet security software to scan all websites and images upon loading. The people that don't have this -- which is the majority -- aren't seeing this issue.
If I knew how to tell you to correct it on your end I would, but unfortunately there are dozens of security programs, dozens of ways to set them up and no way for me to address this issue for all these options.
I can tell you that it is the way you have set up your internet security or anti-virus program.
We do strive to make things work well and we'll continue to work on our end of this issue.
