But I had all kinds of jobs before - tour-guide on a 37-days bus tour from London to Athens with American college students; PR work for a travel agency; entering data (long lists of numbers...) for a computer company; stock-room clerk at a furniture store; working a gigantic hydraulic press at a factory that made fire-proof bricks for steel-mill furnaces (did that for 5 or 6 years in the summer holidays while being an English lit. major at university, I really bulked up doing that job, had to lift about 20 metric tons of these bricks every day...); night-clerk at a hotel; etc. cottoneyedjoe November 24th, 2006, 05:17 PM I work in middle management for a major retailer. Consider a career in something else he suggested, that way music can always be a fun part of your life and not something you learn to loathe to earn a paycheck. Thats what I did. Been playing for fun for 30 years now. The interesting thing is that there are links to my music life on my architecture website, and I get numerous comments on that, and I've actually been hired over the competition because of it a few times!
