Just got a body for my tele build and was wondering about the vintage. It's a bound candy apple red bound 62' MIJ reissue apparently. The guy I got it from wasn't sure of the year. Just curiosity, does the neck pocket stamp reveal date of mfg or does it just ID the model? The stamp is pretty smudged as you can see.

Hi Bobbyperu; I can't make out the inscription, but I can tell you what it says in mine. They were made in '85-'86 as far as I know. Mine is an '85 and say's TLC-62B in the pocket.
Body is candy apple red, double bound and made of 3 pieces of alder.
If you can check the back of the bridge pup...mine says 7-85, which I'd assume to be 7th
month in '85. I hope this helps.

Ahhh a fellow Canuck thanks for the info. I'm doing a build so all I bought was the body so checking the pickup is not an option. Anyways, follow up question if you don't mind. The body is pretty mint so I assumed it was a recent guitar. Was the 62' only produced in the 80's?

My understanding is they were reissued in '85 & '86 only, but I may be off base a little.lol
I got a mongrel with the MIJ TLC-62 body with a beat neck. Picked up a MIK neck on fleabay and deluxe set of Wilde Keystone pups.I'm about to shield the cavities and reconnect all the dots.I can hardly wait man!! Cheers...Jan
