Stratocaster playing like I've never seen and what a performance. One of the best live performances I've seen ever. Grab a tissue and enjoy.

T Prior April 25th, 2011, 04:13 PM rarely do we all get to witness a spirit like this, and make no mistake it was all across the stage, all instruments all voices, playing in complete kindred spirit with both Vince and Carrie..a very rare incredible moment in live music..Vince and Carrie "took em all to Church" and if this performance doesn't make her a world class singer, nothing will !

CAAD8N8 April 25th, 2011, 04:58 PM Wow! I saw this on the other night, and just breezed on by it. I guess I should have checked it out. Thanks for sharing this with us!
soundchaser59 April 25th, 2011, 06:05 PM WOW! Speechless.
No pedals, no special effects, no flashy lights, no bling bling, nothing but raw talent and musicianship made completely vulnerable on a big stage......for God!
Carrie is starting to remind me of Martina McBride, who is shown in the crowd just as amazed as everyone else! If you aren't blinking your eyes after this one, your batteries are dead!
gitold April 25th, 2011, 06:17 PM Vince almost sounds like a Ry Cooder slide solo..Very nice.
NJ Joe G April 25th, 2011, 07:39 PM I believe it is Tommy White on steel and I think I saw Brent Mason on guitar.

jbmando April 25th, 2011, 09:58 PM The Strat playing was indeed masterful, but Carrie was the story here. WOW!
tweedtone April 26th, 2011, 12:36 AM Fantastic.
Breen April 26th, 2011, 01:54 AM *sniff*
T Prior April 26th, 2011, 03:47 AM great clip of Vince on Wheel...and yes, with TW on Steel !
Esaaal April 26th, 2011, 06:47 AM I liked the video and the peformances were really great. I noticed the only the highlighted celebs stood up at the end. They were "lit up" and even their carpet was red. Are the audiences at these things fake?
T Prior April 26th, 2011, 07:47 AM Are the audiences at these things fake?
Perhaps, but you can't fake greatness !
Durtdog April 26th, 2011, 08:08 AM Ah, great. Thanks for that.
vedt April 26th, 2011, 08:54 AM Somewhere in Ireland there is a famous guitarist wondering if he should maybe just do away with his 17 racks and 10 foot long pedalboard.
soundchaser59 April 26th, 2011, 09:29 AM I liked the video and the peformances were really great. I noticed the only the highlighted celebs stood up at the end. They were "lit up" and even their carpet was red. Are the audiences at these things fake?
No, they just can afford the most expensive tickets. They don't highlight the "unknown" people with the chepaer seats farther back in the crowd, and the ones at the front are usually other industry performers and award winners.
You can buy a ticket to the event if you want, but don't expect great seats! A lot of that is dictated by the presence of tv.
T Prior April 26th, 2011, 09:36 AM A lot of that is dictated by the presence of tv.
You see more people with a big screen TV.. EX: a 65 " screen sees more people than a "42...
soundchaser59 April 26th, 2011, 10:00 AM How do you figger? Both are receiving the same picture from the tv crew.....does the bigger tv show more poeple? Or just bigger people?
T Prior April 26th, 2011, 10:20 AM How do you figger? Both are receiving the same picture from the tv crew.....does the bigger tv show more poeple? Or just bigger people?
can't say, but our TV has a setting where everyone is thinner
tjalla April 26th, 2011, 12:08 PM

Loved it.
TeleTim911 April 26th, 2011, 12:25 PM Truly a great performance that we can now enjoy forever. Thanks for sharing!
tele-rain April 26th, 2011, 03:13 PM I posted that video as well in the "music to my ears section". It totally awed me in every sense of the word!
JeradP April 26th, 2011, 03:39 PM Wow I didn't know she could do that. I always thought her voice sounded "pinched", but she sounds amazing when she opens up
hotraman April 26th, 2011, 09:36 PM That was an awesome performance. I didn't know she could sing that well... and as for Vince Gill, he's my hero.
cj11l April 26th, 2011, 10:30 PM Simply awesome!
bek April 27th, 2011, 11:33 AM I have to say I almost didn't make through this song at all, and I'm at work and haven't been able to hear a note! It's quite obviously amazing.
broadcaster April 27th, 2011, 12:46 PM That is the best this side of heaven. Absolutely fantastic.
Lost_N_Austin April 27th, 2011, 12:54 PM Over Three Million hits so far (3,034,405)
If anybody has any information on the Stratocaster Vince is playing I'd like to know about it. I know the story of his Telecaster - I even know the guy who sold it to him. This old Strat looks like it could tell a few stories a s well. I have Vince's autograph and he has always been one of my favorite country artists. Vince and Carrie - good old Oklahoma people.

I read in another thread from this year that he bought a new 59 Strat he just picked up that was owned by Dwayne Eddy. Could this be the one?

scud133 April 29th, 2011, 08:50 PM kinda boring but those are lovely strat tones and she's a hell of a singer
babalooga April 29th, 2011, 09:29 PM I can't come up with the right words to describe that performance. I was awestruck:smile:
Lost_N_Austin April 29th, 2011, 10:23 PM AARP magazine for May/June 2011.

He's holding a Fender (Jaguar in the inside article picture).
I saw a video clip of an interview with Miranda Lambert where see is talking about her workouts to get in shape (upcoming wedding to Blake Shelton).
Miranda is quoted as saying "Those Carrie Underwood thighs don't come easy". Funny, I hadn't noticed those.

Wonderful story about Vince and Amy in AARP magazine.
GoldieLocks May 8th, 2011, 11:31 AM Awesome, great musicians playing good songs. Was I taken to Church? NO.
I wonder how this music affects them personally. I know that Vince is just as likely to do a gig the next night singing about Sex, Alcohol and Honky Tonks. He's a great picker but I wouldn't invite him to sing in my church.
I too wish he would put out a live DVD.
Twanginator May 8th, 2011, 12:22 PM WOW! Speechless.
No pedals, no special effects, no flashy lights, no bling bling, nothing but raw talent and musicianship made completely vulnerable on a big stage......for God!
+1 -- That was the real deal.
First Mother's Day without my Mom. "How Great Thou Art" was her favorite hymn and Vince her favorite singer.
I'm a mess...but thanks for the great videos. I'll be sending these out to my family.
GoldieLocks May 8th, 2011, 12:44 PM I'm just being abit of a philosopher right now. Don't mean anything disrespectful by this critique. I'm just curious about something:
Didn't I just see a bunch of pedals? (in front of vince's amp?)
Didn't I just see lots of bling bling? (carries dress!)
Didn't I just see plenty of flashing lights?
The whole thing was a special effect - with great mood lighting.
I don't know if there was anything vulnerable about that great performance - or if it was for God. I would like to think so. But i'm not convinced.
I sure agree with the raw talent though. Incredible musicians.
Twanginator May 8th, 2011, 12:59 PM What I was referring to was the musical talent and Carrie's sincerity. I think she sang it from the heart as praise to her Creator.
1962guitargeek May 8th, 2011, 10:58 PM thanks, I needed that (video/song)
GeetarPlayer May 9th, 2011, 07:46 AM I've been skipping by this thread for a while. Decided to give it a few seconds of a listen today. I didn't want it to end. WOW.
StootMonster May 22nd, 2011, 03:25 PM If you didn't get into the performance, I'd just leave it at that. People get that spiritual connection from different things. I wouldn't read too far into it.
I loved it. I thought Underwood was absolutely beautiful and vince gill plays some very tasteful licks on that nice strat. I loved it!
