Universal Neck Route

I am looking into getting a Tele body made for a partscaster and was thinking about getting a neck humbucker route. I am still undecided what pickup i will be using in the neck position. My question is would a single coil or minihumbucker fit properly if I decide on one of those and not a full sized humbucker? I guess it would be treating a humbucker route as a one-size-fits-all/universal approach.

Yep, that will work without any problem. There was a time when Fender was making all of their guitars this way.

Purists frown on this approach, but it has absolutely no influence on the sound of your guitar. Go for it.

Would this work for a soapbar P90 as well?

Sure, but you'd probably have to put something under the soapbar like compressible foam like they use on Filtertrons. (It's basically mouse-pad foam, anything like that would work.)
