As a worship leader who leads almost exclusively from an electric (only time I use an acoustic is if I'm leading without a team) I thought this might be helpful to some who are looking to explore this option. I know we get alot of question on here about his & so hopefully this might help.

Oh & this guys pedals are SICK!!!

Yup... I can't remember the last time I had my acoustic out of it's case. For me, my LP works much better than my Teles & Strats; not only is the warmth of the 'buckers more pleasing to the congregation (YCMV- Your Congregation May Vary ), but also background noise amplified through the PA is much reduced. Also, I've gotten away from using modulation pedals, as they tend to make it tough for the singers to stay on pitch. OD & some delay keep it simple, and always sound good.

Funny, I've gone from a Tele to a Strat to a 335 back to a Strat. I'm happiest with the Strat cause it gives me the versatility to have more sound options. I don't suffer from much noise issues cause I run my amp & pedalboard thru a power conditioner. I do have a old Duo Sonic that has been modded with just a single HB in the bridge that I'll pull out if we're doing heavier stuff that week or if I just want to keep the guitar simple.

I find that a strat works good for me cause I'm actually doing most of the leading & the rhythm work too. The strat gives the the flexibility to do both without feeling compromised in either. With the tele I felt like I could get a good sound for rhythm & a good sound for lead but no variance in either. Don't get me wrong I miss having a tele...alot! but I'm happiest with my strat. Also I play blues gigs & so a strat is a must for my sound

Yeah every time I've tried to branch out from dirt-delay I end up not using the other stuff. I have used a little trem/roto for slow songs that need a little something.

I do rhythm & lead, too. I usually have my LP's neck pup volume on 7-8 & bridge pup volume on 10... I mostly keep it on the neck for rhythm, and if I have to do a lead while singing, I can just switch to the bridge w/o looking. On some songs, if there's time, I'll kick in another pedal for a lead boost.

I miss playing my Strat, too... so much so, that I'm switching it over to two humbuckers (DiMarzio 36th Anniv. PAFs) ala Jimmy Herring. I think that just might get it back into the church rotation.

Wow, the dirt he has at 4:27 is PERFECT!
Wonderful lesson. Too bad I don't have another guitarist at church to play with.
Meh...the keyboardist can cover rhythm great anyway.

Went to Rock Harbor quite a few times when I was living in SoCal. They did a nice job.

Great vid that emphasizes what it took me 30 years to learn...keep it simple, get a great clean sound, don't overplay. Thanks for posting.
