Well, I finally found one more great G&L that I'm sending to Dave Evans for a Pull String install!! I feel almost guilty doing this, (it'll be my second, but I have two guitar playing sons that will each wind up with one when I'm done....) but not that guilty!

'92 or so Asat Classic! Wonderful guitar and worthy of a great bender!

Thought it was black when I bought it, but, after the sun hit it, I realized it's deep, dark, green! I'll post pics when I get it back. Yipee!!!!!

He looks like he does nice work. How much does he charge for a B bender install?

Excellent work! Dave is meticulous. What I really like, is the ability to infinitely adjust the tension.....from feather light to very stiff. I have mine set so that it takes effort to pull the string...no accidental bends, and it's always back to pitch after letting off the pull. Some people like very light tension; no problem. Just adjust to your preference. Also, stroke length. You can adjust from a short throw, medium throw, long throw, and several in between, in minutes. This is a pic of my first one (2008), before putting the neck back on. That's one fine example of engineering and workmanship!

How expensive is it? I have two builds intended for benders. I had thought both of them McVay, maybe I'll try one of these Evans creations.

Hey Chet and Coolbreeze! I think it'd be best to contact Dave:

I'd rather let him give you the lowdown on $. I'll just say, this is no 'bargain basement' bender, but, in my opinion, it's the top of the line. I wish I could show you my guitar in person! It's definitely the most bang for the bender buck!

I just noticed you're in Ohio.....if you're ever around central Indiana, let me know!

I've never had the pleasure of trying out one of Dave's pull strings but maybe someday I'll get lucky...........JH in Va.

JH,

Thanks! If you're ever in these parts (central IN), you can check mine out! That goes for any of the rest of you bender heads, too!

Impressive!!

...as someone who has spent a lifetime (almost!) making the tools to do the job-in-hand, I can see where this is all going..

...very impressive..

..look forward to seeing the final result!

Well, it's back and it's incredible! Arrived last week....just haven't had time to take pics and post...playing it at a gig tonight. I'll post pics etc., in a few days.

I'm a lucky fellow!

Finally took a few pics of the "new" bender....I apologize....I'm not much of a photographer!

I put the "Classic" through it's paces last weekend. What a great guitar and the Pull String is exceptional, as expected! The "Classic" Asat has quite a different sound in all pick-up positions, than the "Special" (running through a 'Z' doesn't hurt!). I love them both.

I can't say enough about dealing with Dave Evans, and his workmanship. He's a true artist.

Now I have two....each with it's own voice.....as I said before, I'm a real lucky guy!
