Being the owner of a new Peavey 6505+ 112 combo I thought we might set up a place to share information on our awesome amps.

Anyone having a "Beast" is welcome to share their observations, problems, questions, and jubilations here.

Hopefully we will get some members to participate in this club.

Everyone with an interest is invited.

Mine is a very awesome amp with lots of gain on both channels and when you engage the "crunch" button on the rythym channel it is like having a three channel amp.

I like the way it has completely independent eq sections for both of the channels, plus independent presence and resonance controls. I don't mind that the three spring accutronics reverb unit is shared by a master control knob. I think the reverb is a very nice sounding unit.

I was surprise how well single coil guitars like strats and teles sound thru this amp. They overdrive very well and don't sound thin like on a lot of amps and pedals. Humbucker guitars like LP's sound really great as well.

I am personally not a heavy metal player but I've noticed that I am able to introduce some heavyness into my playing style with this amp that is very welcome.

I'm even able to get some excellent hot blues sounds out of it not to mention great sounding power chords. The amp has been able to reproduce every type of sound that I am looking for so far, with a little adjustment of the channel control, without using any pedals so far.

I'm going to try my Line 6 HD500 before long and see if I can get anything awesome out of it into this amp. I'll get back on that. I'll also post a couple pictures of my new amp.

Welcome anyone who thinks we need a 6505+ 112 combo club.

Congrats! I've got two of its ancestors, the VTM 60 and the 5150 Combo. The 5150/6505 series of amps are greatly overlooked by players of our ilk due to the "high gain only" reputation. Boy are they missing out!

If you want to dial some of the buzz out, you can go with a couple of lower gain preamp tubes in V2 and the phase splitter. I did that to my 5150 Combo and, it can still get into the uncontrolable territory, but it's a lot easier to dial it out with the guitar's volume knob.

I'm surprised at the absence of interest in this amp club.

These are very cool amps.

I have had zero problems with my amp since I bought it. It produces awesome sounds. It doesn't have a real good clean sound, but it has beautiful overdrive sounds and really gets into the ultra overdriven sound without a pedal, very well.

I like the full sound of this amp. It does a great job being an overdriven amp and considering the cost, it is a good value. You get a genuine full tube sound without any of the digital distortion that a lot of the distortion pedals introduce.

Let us know if you have had good experiences with your 6505+ combo.

I had a block logo 5150 head that I ran through a 1960A 4x12 cab... hammer of the gods, man that was a great rock 'n roll amp.

Enjoy!

Bought a Laney Lionheart about a month ago, and my search for the ultimate amp tone is over.

I gigged that 5150 about 3 or 4 months but it did end up having some reliability issues (bought it dirt cheap in a pawn shop, can't complain). I was a little concerned about gigging it going forward, given the problems it gave me. Got far more for it than I had in it. But it was fun to play while I had it. I eventually moved to a Mesa Roadster head that was very versatile for the cover band I played in (even if, um, a *wee* bit over-powered). :)
