I've got a G&L ASAT Classic with a G&L trem; installed with the 1/2 ashtray bridge. I assume that a bender mechanism is not compatible but I thought I'd ask.

Can/Has anyone do a bender install on a trem guitar?Rick Towne March 28th, 2011, 12:29 AM I've got a G&L ASAT Classic with a G&L trem; installed with the 1/2 ashtray bridge. I assume that a bender mechanism is not compatible but I thought I'd ask. yark14 March 28th, 2011, 12:32 AM That'd be tough. However, I'm sure somebody around here can figure it out. J. Hayes March 28th, 2011, 08:49 AM works great with a vibrato tailpiece as it's mounted on the headstock.....JH in Va. bender-freak March 28th, 2011, 10:39 AM I've done it with Kahler type trems and Hipshots on Les Pauls, and have done it with a Washburn Wonder-Bar trem on one of my 335s. They worked just fine if you keep in mind the trem will NOT affect the B string as it will be attached to the bender unit. I don't use trem and bender both any more, so it is a moot point with me, but, YES, it can be done and has been done. If you want a fully functional trem/vibrato on ALL strings, contact my buddy Billy Warford at B&W benders in Springfield, Missouri. I assume he is still doing bender/tremolos. Nice guy and quick on his turnaround time. |
