J. Hayes March 1st, 2011, 07:41 AM Bender guitar for a very nice mint condition Clapton "Blackie" Stratocaster? It's a 2000 model which has the Lace Sensors and plays like a dream. The only mods to it is a small mini toggle switch between the lower two knobs which when you're in the neck position or neck middle position it'll bring in the bridge pickup so you can have all seven pickup positions. This is a great guitar but I'm just an old Tele guy and Strats just ain't me.... I have a P/W equipped Tele now and would like another one of those or a P/G equipped one would be OK too. The new EC Strats sell at GC for $1,599 with the noiseless pups but the Lace Sensors are the better ones. It also has that mid boost which makes it sound like humbuckers in all the positions and also gives it a little more growl when using a fuzz box. Here's a shot or two. The top volume knob is missing in the pix but the guitar's been returned to stock except for the mini switch addition...........JH in Va.
J. Hayes March 2nd, 2011, 01:13 PM Stratocaster discussion side about EC Strats, I've experimented with mine and come to the conclusion that I want to keep it. This thing has much more to it than I realized....Now if it just had a bender!......JH in Va.
BrianF March 2nd, 2011, 04:42 PM Jerry I have the same guitar in pewter color. The only bender that you can easily put on it is a hipshot and I tried that once on my EC strat
bender-freak March 2nd, 2011, 07:01 PM Jerry, ya might contact my buddy here in Springfield, Mo. Bill Warford of B&W Benders; he does bender in strats all the time and can even do them with a full functioning tremolo if that is any concern. he does good work, and fast....definitely one of the good guys.
cbnutt March 2nd, 2011, 10:12 PM yes ive seen some of his work too, he does a good job....:) ^^^

I'd sure be interested in a bender that worked with a fully functional tremolo. I can't imagine how the B string can terminate in a bender unit and still work with all the other strings of the vibrato unit. I went to B&W Benders web site but didn't see any mention of a b bender that worked with fully functioning tremolo.

i don't have one with a functioning trem; like Jerry i'm just not a strat guy most of the time, but i have seen his after completion and they work a treat. i would suggest just dropping him an email and ask him if he still does them. he's a nice guy all the way.....good luck....i've done my own b benders with functioning trem on les paul style guitars using a Kahler trem and they work great, but trust me...it's a GREAT BIG PITA to do.
Chet Johnson March 3rd, 2011, 08:43 PM I keep wanting to try a Timara on a strat, but have not yet. That'd be crazy cool id it does work, B, and G benders AND a trem !? www.guitarpickle.com I've tried the tele bridges and they are really cool for the money. I would send him a quality vintage type bridge if I had a strat to put one on.
J. Hayes March 8th, 2011, 07:27 AM I might take it off in the near future and put it on this Strat. I'm sorry that I put the top volume control back on the guitar though! I've played a couple of gigs with it since it was put back on and I keep turning the guitar down accidentally. I hate those dang top knobs. Since I always use a volume pedal maybe I'll just take off the knob itself and see if I can just push the pot down into the guitar without removing it. When it was off before, I'd had the mid boost disconnected and the volume and tone controls moved down to the middle and bottom slot............ Anyone else hate those top knobs?.....JH in Va.

They don't bother me Jerry, but I'm a fingerpicker.
lmcgillet March 8th, 2011, 02:28 PM i don't have one with a functioning trem[...]
Happy to tell you I have one. Was lucky enough to get my hands on a second-hand (in fact it was new - obviously never played) Strat with a B-Bender made by Bill Warford. Got it from Australia!
The trem doesn't affect the bender, it is a mystery for itself - thanks to Bill's skills. Maybe even more of a mystery is that the bender doesn't affect the remaining five strings via the tremolo?! Have to admit that the tremolo is not one of the ultra-sensitive totally free floating trems, resting on a razor-blade-like base, like you find them on some higher-priced Strats (I also have one of these, and even not too heavy finger bendings make it sound as if it was made out of rubber). It's just your good old Strat's screw-mounted whammy.
Great work by Bill Warford, a great sounding Strat and also a "rare bird", this one.
Best wishes -
Luther
