Texecaster February 28th, 2011, 02:10 AM Hi all,
I remember seeing a picture of a Tele on here with a Les Paul upper bout or horn.
For the life of me I cannot find it again.
Anyone remember seeing it, or posting it?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
volowv February 28th, 2011, 03:48 AM that's ImmortalSix's thread. toward the end, post #33.

Texecaster February 28th, 2011, 05:45 AM Sweet. Thanks bud.
That's not the pic I was after, but cool none the less.
The pic I remember seeing was all standard Tele except for the upper horn.
Just that bit was Les Paul.
Looked way cool.
Thanks again though.
Cheers.
ImmortalSix February 28th, 2011, 09:54 AM I don't know the exact picture you're looking for, but when mine is done (linked above), it will have all Tele hardware - and an LP-ish upper bout.
Here is my template with hardware sitting on top of it, if that helps you visualize.

I did some googling, but everything I found was pretty ugly.
There's always the Hamer Talladega Pro, it's a cool hybrid.
Joe Sailor February 28th, 2011, 01:29 PM The Saint Blues guitars are pretty cool IMHO. Also the Hohner OSC is similar. Both are based more on the Les Paul than the Tele. Sorry, on my phone so can't upload pix.

Texecaster February 28th, 2011, 06:43 PM ImmortalSix... That is pretty close.
I did the same as you, Googled and nothing much I liked.
Yours is pretty close to perfect though. I like.
Thanks Joe and Doubletriode.
Cheers.
Texecaster February 28th, 2011, 06:45 PM Here is a REAL rough photoshop of a body I am currently building.
The upper horn is still not quite what I'm after, but you get the idea.
Cheers.
woodturner March 1st, 2011, 08:07 AM I noticed a Saint Blues Mississippi Bluesmaster (http://www.saintblues.com/Mississippi-Bluesmaster-p-1.html) some time ago I really liked. I grabbed a photo just in case I ever decided to make up a template set.
Here is the photo. Might be just the ticket. Take the basic outline, overlay the Tele lower horn and it should be ready to go.
Texecaster March 1st, 2011, 02:43 PM Sweet!
I think that might be the go.
Thanks bud!
Cheers.

Thanks a lot!
I just put up a whole pile of new pictures in my build thread (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-home-depot/246667-first-build-phinn-guitars-t3.html) - maybe you will see an angle you like in there.

Picked up a St Blues in a shop recently, it felt so good I plugged it up the next time I went in. Was thoroughly impressed.
Joe Sailor March 4th, 2011, 04:04 PM I took a Les Paul and put the upper bout on a tele. One with the LP in about the same place as the tele, and one in the LP position (closer to the neck). Then I did those with humbuckers.
Texecaster March 5th, 2011, 03:06 AM PERFECT!!!!
THATS IT!!!!!!
Thanks bud, mind if I use these?
Dont suppose you have them actual size?
Now I'm askin' a bit much!
Cheers.
Lost_N_Austin March 5th, 2011, 08:43 AM What with the toggle switch and the Les Paul knobs. This was the picture that was posted of Redd's next guitar.

Yeah but with the LP upper horn.
Like pictures 1 and 3 in Joe's post.
And I might even do it with humbuckers & a Strat hartdail bridge.
Man...so many pictures running through my head now.....must....build.....another.......guitar.
Joe Sailor March 5th, 2011, 12:07 PM Lost_N_Austin, that is beautiful.
Texecaster, no problem. I based the tele on T. Downs cad file and the LP from a pdf i found, and put in cad and merged them, the LP bridge looked off. I can send you full size and 8.5x11 PDF's on Monday.

YOU ROCK!
Either PM me or post here if you could.
Thanks VERY much.
I have been wanting to do a build like this for a while. Now I have no excuse to put it off.
I'll will be using a Strat hard tail bridge, so no issues with the LP bridge looking out. I will make do.
Thanks again Joe! :grin::grin::grin:
Cheers.

+100 That thing is sex with strings!
Joe Sailor March 5th, 2011, 10:17 PM Texecaster, try these files. One is multiple 8 1/2"x11" pages, the other is a single 18"x24" sheet. These are untested, so use your knowledge guided by your experience. The grid is one inch square so you will know if they are printed out to the correct scale. Comments of the usefulness of the files are welcome.
Texecaster March 6th, 2011, 12:26 AM Thanks so much Joe.
I am currently finishing up a build for the wife, and this will definitely be next.
I'll let you know how I get on. Will be a little while off yet though.
Thanks again mate!
Cheers.
