Experts, is this original finish?

The seller is advertising this Strat's body as original, no refinish. What do you think? How does it look for an expert eye?

Thanks

No way to tell from those. Need to see the neck pocket and under the pickguard - pickup routes. Even then it might be hard to say.

It very well could be. Fender is guilty of some hideous 3 tone sunbursts leaving the factory over the years. I don't see anything obvious that would make me think it's a refin.

3 tone sunburst like this is considered hideous? I thought is pretty popular, and they are the one (if not the one) of most expensive vintage/old colours.

Not that popular and hideous cannot be use in the same sentence :)

It isn't that the three color sunburst is hideous, but Bro' the back of that one looks pretty bad. NTTAWWT, but jus' sayin'. And yes, it could very well be original.

It's the combination of three bolt neck, skunk stripe maple and truss rod adjuster that I'd be looking into in regards to originality. Make sure that was available in whatever year this is supposed to be and you're good. I am not an expert so I don't know those things right off and I'm not saying it's suspect, just would be something I'd research.

As mentioned the finish will take more work to verify.

This seems to fit, acording to any other model from '75-76.
The plate is from 1976, pots '74 and pickups '75
The seller didn't do anything with the guitar since he bought it ( about a decade ago), but he is pretty sure it has been refretted
BUT I AM NOT AN EXPERT.

Here are the rest of the pics available.

Cool. Like I said, I've got no particular reason to question it just mentioning the things I'd want to look into.

Not an expert, but everything looks consistent with one of those times when a body started out at the factory as a natural finish, got gigged at inspection for finish problems at the edge/roundover, and then was redone as a sunburst. Odd lot parts would make sense on a Do-Over. That would also explain the rather sick-green at the middle of the burst.

Thats a typical burst from that era.
I call those a "cartoon" burst.
Thats the look.

It doesn't says "made in USA" on the neck! It says only PAT 3143028, Fender Stratocaster and Original Contour Body
Is this not USA???

"made in USA" would have been redundant in the '70s, except where required by the import laws of another country, and in some cases this requirement could have been met by marking country of origin on the shipping package.
