I guess this is what happens to most SX's; my friend bought it, played it a while and wanted more. I installed a matched a set of GFS "lil Killers with push/pull pots for the bridge and mid/neck respectively. Then the neck developed a backbow, and not wanting to go to heavier strings, he opted for an Allparts Strat 22 fret neck. I installed the same neck on another SX Strat of his, and the route was cut so deep that I had to shim the entire neck up so as not to rip off the fretboard on the pickguard. No problems on this one, although I did find pieces of plastic packing tape used for shims in the pocket. What we've got here is a really nice sounding good playing axe, but it's now worth about $300. If it were mine, I'd also scrap the tuners and get new saddles, but he's ok with them. And the brass nut is his thing; stuck in the 70's I guess. I'll bet there's a bunch of you out there that have done the same to your SX's. What say you? And now I've got his P-90 sweetheart; says the frets are buzzing on the lower half of the neck. They aren't here, but when he takes it to his place, they are within 2 hrs. Obviously a heat/humidity problem?
