One of my favs since "Bitches Brew" was released in 1969. His "Birds of Fire" and "Inner Mounting Flame" were monumental when they were released, they mark a big fork in the road for music, as did the five or so albums he did with the Miles Davis band.

Coincidently, before I read this thread, I was thinking today that he might be the most complete guitarist, as his creations span the spectrum from classical to jazz to rock and blues, as well as "world music," whatever that is. In other words, his creations have traversed more genres than any other artist I can think of, and it is all artistry of the highest order.

I think that's a very thoughtful and reasonable assessment.
