EMG TC set, anyone have them?

I scored a new in the box set for my tele project for 80 shipped on ebay. The EMG site has no samples. Anyone have any experience with them?

I tried a Tele once with EMG's which I believe was the regular EMG-T set and was really really impressed.

I have heard samples and seen a few videos of the regular T Set. I have been having trouble finding anything for the TC set. The only difference between the sets is the TC set has ceramic magnets. I am thinking it would be similar to a comparison of the emg 81 to the 85. I only paid 80 bucks shipped for a sealed in the box set. So if they sound like garbage i could just sell them and get passive pickups.

If you check out their resonance data, the TC set has a slightly higher peak for both the neck and the bridge pickup (4.85 kHz vs. 5.3 kHz for the neck and 3.7 kHz vs. 4.35 kHz for the bridge), and in that frequency range this difference might be quite audible for the human ear. So the TC ones sound somewhat treblier, just like the S compared to the SA for example.

One of the good things about EMGs is that they are pretty consistent about these things.

Ceramic magnets add no inductance on their own, while AlNiCo and the likes do add some that will result in a more mellow sound most of the time, at least if you use them in the same style pickup with the same coil etc.

Are yours gold letter or Silver ??? ...I have a set of the gold letters ...which I think are Alnico ...and they sound great .....so .......however they are very clear ....and they do like distortion and very clean tones ....and that buzz that is always present in a tele is gone with these !!!

I have had a set of these in my Tele for over 20 years and about thirty 9volts later, no problems what so ever, never any buzz on stage once I installed these. Great sound all around, very easy to install too.

I have another brand new set in the box waiting for my tele build.

lol, Yeah i can comb the bay all day and not find anything. I got on ebay for five minutes and found these and snatched them up. I was planning on using EMGs anyway and almost bought a new set from AMS a day before. Alot of people keep it locked on ending soonest when looking for deals, but alot of the best deals i find are newly listed bin listings. Sometimes people want fast money or don't know what their item is worth, and you can get it before anyone else even lays eyes on it.

Sooo...how do they sound?

I am waiting on my hinge bits from grizzly, after that i will drill all my holes, and get all my hardware installed, do a quick setup, then i'll post some sound clips along with pictures of my build.

Those came stock in my Guild T-250. Only guitar my then-band ever complimented me on for the tone.

I just posted a set of white ones in the classifieds if anyone is interested.
