Go Time for a Newbie Parts Build

Well, most of you in this forum have had the same urge as I do to build at least a partscaster so I am going to forge ahead and figure I am among friends. I have been collecting the needed parts for awhile and my neck (the last piece) arrived today so it's time to do something besides sand the body. The neck is just a hair too big to fit in the neck pocket. I know you don't want the fit to be snug and need to leave enough room to accommodate paint. That being said, what will be the best approach to providing the needed gap? The neck itself is maple.

Thanks for any and all help. I know I will be back with many more questions.

I use a router, but you could just sand the sides of the pocket with sanding block. Just make sure you sand it true, don't waller out the neck pocket bottom or edges.

Thanks. "Wallering" was exactly my concern.
