I'm getting ready to paint my Tele body, and just want to make sure I'm not leaving anything out. I've got a Mighty Mite body, which was said to have been sanded/sealed. I just got through grain filling using drywall mud. I'm painting it with ReRanch Lake Placid Blue Nitro. I actually ordered their Primer, Nitro, and Clear. I was thinking about running to Lowe's and getting a can of Deft Sanding Sealer tomorrow and do a couple coats before I start to primer the body. Is that just a waste of time and money considering the materials I'm painting with? Do I need to clean the body with anything before beginning to shoot it with primer? How long should I wait between coats of lacquer before I re-shoot it?

I think SS is a good idea. But I would opt for the DEFT Brush On SS, much better product than the aerosol in my opinion.

Thanks Colt! Should I clean the body before beginning to prime to get loose dust off? Anything before painting?

Wipe it down with a tack cloth.

I wipe everything down with naptha or mineral spirits to remove dirt and oil before spraying. Your fingers can leave invisible greasy smudges that willl show through your final laquer in teh form of fisheyes or blurry spots, and the lacquer will be more prone to chipping off in those spots.

I bought some naptha. Will it not hurt the grain filler or SS? Do I need to use this on my maple neck before I start spraying?

Won't hurt the sanding sealer as long as its dry. I always spray SS before and after grain filling.
