Is this correct way to finish a maple/rosewood neck?

Hi All,

I have a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard I want to finish.
I want to use tru oil.

Should I mask off the fretboard, apply the tru oil and then use
fretboard conditioner on the rosewood? ( I'm assuming the tru oil would not go on the rosewood)

Also, I want to put a water slide sticker on. Can I use tru oil right
over that, or should i hit it with some clear first?

Thanks for any help!

Rick

Hi All,

I have a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard I want to finish.
I want to use tru oil.

Should I mask off the fretboard, I would, I like the green frog tapeapply the tru oil and then use
fretboard conditioner on the rosewood? Depending on how dry the rosewood is, you may or may not need to condition it. If you think it is dry, some conditioner wont hurt. ( I'm assuming the tru oil would not go on the rosewood)

Also, I want to put a water slide sticker on. Can I use tru oil right
over that, or should i hit it with some clear first? Tru Oil will work over a waterslide decal.

Thanks for any help!

Rick

Hope that helps.

Thanks Colt. My rosewood does seem really dry, so, i'll try some conditioner.
