GFS Hot Lead Alnico Overwound Tele Bridge

Has anyone else tried one of these? I just popped one of these cheapies into my partscaster w/ a '70's grey-bottom Strat p'up in the neck. I like it alot, it has a very P90ish grind but still has some twang. Measured out at 9.7K, AlNiCo5 magnets, nice fiber top, not bad for >$25. I wonder what kind of wire these are wound with? I would recommend this unit highly to all my fellow cheapskates!

I have a GFS Lil Puncher Tele bridge, GFS Oversize Polepiece Fatbody Tele bridge, and a Hot Lead overwould Tele bridge waiting for me to complete my Esquire/Partsquire builds -- hoping to finish them soon.

I've tried a handful GFS pickups. Some I found great some not so much.

The keepers for me have been the Hot Vintage Lil' Puncher rail pickups and the Mean 90 humbucker-sized P90. Other I've ended up selling on.

I haven't heard the model you mention, twintwelve, but if it works for you that's what matters!

I've had a few of the Hot Leads in different Teles. They're very good sounding pickups - perfect for Led Zeppelin I tones. They retain a nice crunch/twang when driven but have an extra bit of meat as compared with vintage spec units. They can be prone to squealy microphonics at high gain settings if mounted with metal springs though. I found rubber tubing was the answer to this.

+1 on the Mean 90. I have one in a Strat and it's wired straight to the volume pot. I love it.

Another shout out for the Mean 90. The single-coil tele pickups I've tried-not so much. I would like to try a Lil' Puncher sometime.

I have a fatbody 10k and i think its great!

I just ordered one of these to put into my MIM Tele-turned-Esquire. For $25, it'll be an interesting test on the cheap.
