The Danno CTO-1 or CTO-2 would be in your price range

Try and find a used Boss BD-2 Blues Driver or a used Tubescreamer (maybe a Digitech Bad Monkey?), set the gain low and the level high.

I have a Dano CTO-1 ( for those who don't know this is the Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive, V.1) and love it as an all purpose Clean boost/OD with a lot of range on all the controls...(owned the V.2 for a day, and returned it asap) Can you even find the V.1's anymore? Dano is going on about a year (maybe longer) since stopping production and no retailer carries them....I guess its just e-bay or a classified ad now??

I just stumbled on these the other day: GFS Electronics (http://www.guitarfetish.com/Greenie-Classic-Distortion-Classic-4558-Tube-Screamer-tones_p_1075.html). They also have a dual version that is supposed to house a TS 808 clone and a TS9 clone together.

You can get a new Blues Driver on Amazon for <$100. I've seen it as low as $75 but Amazon seems to have bumped the price on their Boss pedals in the last week or two.

Go ahead and spend the extra $18.00 and get a Visual Sound Open Road.

Save the hundred bucks and dial in some tasty dirt on those two Peaveys!

The answer is "Yes"

It all depends on how it sounds with your own amp, IMO. I have used a Blues Driver for over 10 years as an outboard 2nd channel to my Blues Jr. amp (which I run pretty clean)- I can set the BD-2 for a clean boost as well as various shades of overdrive and distortion and get these sounds at a nice quiet volume when needed. But this pedal (in stock form as it does have a lot of Gain and can be very bright) does not sound nearly as good with my old Deluxe Reverb (a bright amp w/o as much mids as the Blues Jr.), so I use a few other OD' s(they same way I use the Blues Driver>Blues Jr.) with that amp. I am considering getting a gain reducing mod that will make the BD-2 more useable with the DR. I'd try the Blues Driver stock first, see how you like it and go from there...

Good luck with the Timmy < $100.
There are two Danno CTO-1 on eBay right now <$100. Check Craig's List too. I got mine over the summer for $60.
It doesn't look like you have much dirt in your pedal line-up. The BD-2 or OD-3 are probably better choices to cover more ground.

Another BD fan, mines been modded by Keeley, but i think the stock pedal is fine. you can use it as a "clean" boost or dial up some dirt or just a little hair.

Spend a few more bucks and get a Fulltone OCD. You'll be glad you did. Best overdrive pedal I ever heard.

I have the Dano TOD and the Visual Sound Open Road on my chain right now. You can't go wrong with either pedal. I have the Open Road dialed in to sound like my Deluxe Reverb does when the volume is set on 6ish. Nice for rhythm riffs! The TOD is pretty tough to beat, though, for adding a bit of dirt to leads and riffs!

well for < $100 you can get a danno transparent overdrive and its really good for its price of $20+-...though it looks ugly imo.... meanwhile, as you're saving , call up Paul C and order a timmy..wait for a good 6-8 months and keep the danno...it costs only $129

The build quality of a Dano pedal compared to an OCD is enough in my opinion to make the OCD a better value.

Stomp on that Dano one too many times and its done. Its made of plastic for one, Its PCB vs. handwired, etc., etc.

If your price point is $100 you are almost there anyhow.

Sorry, but the Dano Transparent Overdrive V.1 (talking the Cool Cat series pedals here not the FAB's) is all metal, true bypass, and sounds fantastic as a clean boost/or very natural OD. Hard to find now, so glad to get mine when it was $39!
