polvotone November 23rd, 2010, 11:59 PM Hello, does anyone know of a really good echo pedal, preferably with a fidelity knob on it.
I'm running in circles trying to find one on ebay that isn't out of this world, price-wise.
Please help me, I'm looking for that echo that deranges your tone and like I said, a fidelity knob would be nice.
Thanks.
twintwelve November 24th, 2010, 12:05 AM Danelectro BLT. Only does slapback w/ mix and repeat. My FAVORITE echo, makes every guitar sound cheaper, no matter what it cost. It gets THAT sound for blues and rockabilly, old country rhythm etc. Cheep, too:smile:!
WaylonFan76 November 24th, 2010, 12:09 AM Still from Danelectro, a little more reliable than the mini pedals, the Dan Echo is an amazing pedal. It's a mainstay on my board and could not gig without it. And you might like their Reel Echo pedal too, a little more expensive but has more options, and amazing sound. Check them out. I'd say Dan Echo is the most bang for your buck.

ruger9 November 24th, 2010, 07:16 AM If you're looking for cheap, the Dan-Echo is IT. It has a "fidelity knob" (actually called a Hi-Cut control... doesn't control the clarity of the repeats, only the tone.
If you want a pedal that has a control that controls the CLARITY of the repeats, you'll have to spend a little more money, and pick up a Line 6 Echo Park... it's the best tape echo simulation you'll find in the sub-$120 price range.
Beyond that, you're looking at real money. I've been through most of the tape simulation pedals, and the best there is is the Strymon El Capistan, $300.
FMA November 24th, 2010, 07:24 AM Love the Dan Echo, but for the kind of thing you're seeking, check out Boss' RE-20 Space Echo. Some real weirdness in that box.
cntry666 November 24th, 2010, 08:08 AM You are not going to find a true tape delay cheap unfortunately. I love my Dan Echo but it does not act like a Boss Space Echo where it simulates tape head stuff. If you are not needing a live unit I got a Vox desktop tonelab for $150 and it has the best tape delay I've ever heard. I wish I could find a pedal that simulates that.

imsilly November 24th, 2010, 11:22 AM If you can save up the cash look at the Strymon El Capistan or Skreddy Echo. The El Capistan is the only pedal out there that came close to the old Tape echos I had. It has a very usable set of controls for adding a high end roll off and warbles that you associate with tape echos. Wampler also does a Faux Tape Echo pedal, but I haven't played one of those.
Expensive, but I think it's such an important effect if you are going to use it that it's worth the money.

You just made milk come out my nose!
twintwelve November 24th, 2010, 01:25 PM Truth-but in a good way!
