search quirk and workaround

I've found that when I do a search, if I open one of the returned articles in the same browser window, then when I try to go back to the list of returned articles, the page no longer exists (I forget the exact wording of the error).

My workaround is to open links to the returned articles in a new browser window. Instead of simply clicking with my left (primary) mouse button on the link, I click my right (second) mouse button on it, and then select "open in new window". Then when I'm done looking at that article, I close that window. My window with all the returned articles is still on my desktop.

I'm using MS IE under Win XP Pro with service pack 2, and under Win 2000 on another computer. I don't know how this works for other browsers or configurations.

Also, when I have done a search and then return to the search page with the browser's "back" feature (back arrow on upper left of browser window, or keyboard CTRL and left arrow botton), the text I had typed in to search for has disappeared. I don't know of a workaround, but it's a minor quirk.

In fact both of these are minor. I'm only posting this in case the workaround might help someone else.
