Yet another partscaster, but this one might stick

I started doing the partscaster thing around 1990. I've always had a partscaster project going, only to rearrange it a year or two, or less, later.

I had this poorly finished light 2-piece ash body and a 98 MIM neck that I liked, but the whole project had issues, and I just never got around to doing anything about it. I had it setup as an esquire, but never played it. I actually tried to sell it here about a year ago in the classifieds. It got some interest but nobody went for it. the biggest problem was that the bridge pup cavity was too big and it showed on either side of the bridge plate. um, that, and the body was finished with a few coats of rattle-can satin lacquer and no filler.

lately my opinions of gear i want to use have changed and evolved. Like I said, I've always liked this particular 98 MIM neck that I have, but I've also always felt it wasn't as "good" as the musikraft neck I have, or the warmoth neck I used to have. I don't think that any more. Just because it is MIM, and flatsawn, or whatever, I mean who cares? it plays great and is as straight as anything. those mid-90's MIM guitars can often be great-feeling and great-playing. I've kinda changed my opinions about all that, and have embraced it as being my fave.

I've also completely given up on digital anything having to do with anything guitar. my line 6 pod 2.0 has been gathering dust, so I gave it to my neighbor buddy, in exchange for him finishing the body. he sprayed it with glossy black nitro, and then clearcoated it also with nitro. he did an amazing job! check it out, i put all of my favorite parts on this guitar, rather than having it all spread out over several guitars. this one is a keeper. it has my old, old bardens on it. but i sprung for a parchment 3 ply guard from guitarpartsresource along with their faux ivoroid knobs. it plays really dreamy and is super duper light. I think this is my favorite electric guitar that I have ever owned, and I have had a few.

Yeah, I like that! Those knobs are sure different but in a good way. It took me a couple seconds to come to grips with them, but I dig it now.

No, that is the Joe Barden tele set that I ate peanut and crackers for a year, in order to be able to afford them, back when I was in college!
