Max Power November 10th, 2010, 05:44 AM Might be a dumb question/comment, but has anyone tried pulling on the headstock towards themselves?
It might just be mine, but the guitar seems very cheap when I do this. I hear all sorts of cracking noises and the whole things seems way too flexible. Does anyone know if this is just a neck thing? or is it the neck pocket?
I love the guitar and I guess it does seem stupid to be hung up on this but I guess I would like it to feel a little more solid.
91xlntS-3 November 10th, 2010, 05:52 AM Guess my question is: "Why would you do that in the first place"?
You're doing something to the guitar that was not meant to be done, so I wouldn't be surprised if you heard creaking/cracking noises! ????
Guitarmadcat November 10th, 2010, 05:52 AM Well, what you've gotta realise is - you gets what you pays fer.
At the price, they're a great instrument but superior quality inevitably costs more.
BoogerRooger November 10th, 2010, 06:05 AM Have you tried tightening the screws?
My CV50s and CVC necks are both solid as rocks and I do like to give the neck a good old shove sometimes (Surf's up!), not hving a bigsby or a bender . No cracking noises to report.

I don't think you understand. I am saying just a little pressure. Any of my other guitars are solid as a rock when I do that. Some minor flex which can sometimes sound good when playing.
I think you have the impression I'm putting muscle into it to see if it will bend or break..Not quite.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking, I just thought I'd check in with other people.
Actually, after taxes I paid 415$ CDN for this thing. I bought my old MIM tele for 350$ used and it was in mint condition and felt a little more solid.

I'll take a look at that. However, I am sure that it's just flexible like that because of the wood used.
StraightNeck November 10th, 2010, 11:22 AM Hey,Max Power.I have a small cracking noise in my Tele(not a CV)and found out that it is
the pickguard that is too tight against the neck.It doesnt take much movement to make a noise.I have not done anything to it yet.

Hmm good call, I'll check that out!
boris bubbanov November 10th, 2010, 08:58 PM Max, you might think about replacing those cheap neck bolts.
Mellecaster just opened a thread about this subject yesterday or the day before.
Until you have quality fasteners I would withhold final judgment.
I disagree with the notion you "should not" do this since a lot of pros do tweak on the neck of their Teles for some of their signature sounds. And no, I do not think a stock CV could tolerate this over time.
I try not to fool with skimpier made guitars in the fashion you describe so I can tweak all I like and I don't get that queasy feeling. And I ain't buying a CV for "trade reasons" :^) plus I wouldn't tweak that way someone else's guitar so although I can visualize what you're describing I have not documented it on a CV.
