Well, I have a couple builds to do, and I need to design a logo... I have Photoshop, and figure that is what I will work in... Any advice? Any particular decal paper to use?

Thanks again...

the search engine is your friend, my friend.

decalpaper.com has both laser jet and ink jet paper (and so does the local hobby shop) and there are plenty of threads here on fonts, designs, and decal application tricks.

Thanks... I actually did several searches, but wasn't having luck finding specific thread titles... I'll try again...

I use the inkjet waterslide decal paper from decalpaper.com

Print off several sizes and several copies. I frequently screw up the first, and sometimes second application of the decal. Its a little tricky.

I've been experimenting with headstock decals lately.

Let me know if you need a hand. Feel free to PM me or email me.

The search function on any internest forum is the most overrated POS ever created in the history of the world and maybe even before history. If you have unlimited time and the inclination, you might be able to find a semi-on-point thread. But only if you get lucky. Can you imagine the ton after ton of flaming poo you'd uncover if you searched "headstock decal" on this forum? I mean, really.

I can't find $#!+ using the search function on this forum. If you search thread titles, no one labels their thread titles as such as its conducive to a search. I usually try google first hand, and if I can't find anything, I post a question.

if you know a signmaker, who has a vinyl printer/cutter it does the job well... very thin, and cut perfectly around and inside the letters. You won't get sparkly finishes, well you actually can in layers but it would be a bit trickier to clear over - but here's one I'm waiting on right now...

Try searching "decal paper" using the specific Google custom search in the TDPRI search options. Granted, yes, the standard search option is dreadful, but they have included the Google custom search as well and this is far more useful, as it gives context the standard search doesn't. If you searched "headstock decal" anywhere on the net, you would have the same problem. If you searched for "decal paper" or "applying decal" on the TDPRI Google custom search you'd have far more success.

IMO the mods should do away with the standard search altogether as it is functionally useless...

I heard that!

I have been on the forum for a while, and a lot of times, I know which thread I want to find, but the search function yields a bunch of crapola! Luckily, I have a pretty good handle on building and repairing, so I don't rely on the forum as a resource. But when I am explaining things, it sure would be nice to be able to find a thread and post a link. When the forum went to allowing google results, the function became a lot more useful, but still. A lot of times people have quirky titles, misspelled words, and wrong terminology. So.. a lot of threads are lost into eternity.

Colt. Those came out nice. I hadn't seen that photo. Great job with the color.
How did you end up coloring them in?

These are my Rustic Pinecaster series with some super thin nitro finishes. I used a Silver Sharpie, because I want the color to fade and turn wierd overtime so they can age with the guitar. I also put the decal on top of the lacquer.

I have been wanting to back fill my logos forever, but could never find any printer locally who could print metallic. This technique was super easy, and actually made installing the logo on the guitar easier because I had to invert the decal to color it.

I have a '52 Reissue American Made Tele, I purchased it in 1994, I'm the original owner.

The decal on the headstock is crumbling, contacted Fender and the gave me 3 feet of BS
I had to do to get another one.

Know where I can find one and do it myself?

We don't permit discussion of getting or making Fender decals, due to our desire to avoid legal action!

Sorry,

Tim

ps- I will, however, suggest you contact a Fender-authorized dealer/service center and ask them to "repair" it for you. They can theoretically get decals from Fender for that purpose.

Fender has a system in place for replacing damaged/missing decals. As stated, contact them about replacing the decal. They will make you jump through a few hoops, but they will replace it for you.
