Hope this is ok.

Since I know you guys like solid brass tonebars I though I'd share this.

A guy named Scatter Lee over at the My Les Paul forum is building an awesome violin inspired set-neck guitar, The Scattervarius.
His latest addition is a brass tone bar made from... a $9 Lowes doorstop.
The thread (http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/luthiers-corner/100136-scattervarius-17.html).

It is sweet, indeed.

I'd only been exposed to Mr. Lees work on MYLP.com with his Scattervarius build.
It's very cool to see that he's been more active here.

Do you have a local Fastenal Scatter? That's generally the best place to get brass that I have found locally. I would get 1/4"x1"x3' sections when I use to make knives, and my brother use to get 1/4"x3"x1' pieces of copper for me from the power company.

Or you can order it from here. These people are super cool to deal with. They have locations everywhere, so shipping is cheap, and usually next day.

Good job on that tone bar Scatter Lee , Tiapan is down but there is another source for tone bars/ferrule blocks , deLisle Guitars , I believe they even offer a template for routing it in.

I had just purchased a 1/2" x 1" x 12" bar from here (http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?id=1296&step=2&top_cat=79).
$17.50 + $11 shipping. Enough to make 3 or 4 tonebars, but still.

And then I saw how Scatter made one for 1/3rd the price.
Crap. :(
lol

"Taipan was up the other day"

I sent an email to Taipan last night about some custom work and got back an automated email acknowledgement....

"Thank you for emailing me. I have not been able to get my email due to horrific computer and on going computer technician issues since mid June. After finally giving up the ghost on having them salvage any information on my hard drive that they inadvertently damaged. I have gotten a new setup and am now able to access my server. In a moment of shear brilliance I have switched my internet provider and am having some issues with them allowing me to have access to my email mail account. Hopefully I will have that sorted out in a few days and be up and running again. My apologies for any inconvenience this mess has cause in trying to get in touch with me."

- Sounds like Vince is having more than his share of computer trouble right now, but I'll wait to have him do my stuff. His workmanship is as good as it gets.
