Don Mare October 28th, 2004, 03:36 AM Hi, please check in and rave a little for Lollar, I feel he desirves some gushing -- props..
Hes done the imposible for me.. he's got me off my Duncans!!!!
and I'm now totally into his version of Roy Buchanans 53 Nancy era style pickups..
I just got in from my 3rd, gig in a week all in different size clubs.. the same club that KILLED My Bardens was the same Club that clinched my new founded LOVE for these new pups!
I personally am totally floored...
...and at the gigs ...so was so many ROY fans floored too!
They came up to the stage at each gig's end just to let me know how good it sounded to them.
One of then even knew Roy and he said it was the closest his ears has ever witnessed to Roy ever!
Cheer's my friends,
....let's here some more Lollar props--> :D
TwinReverb October 28th, 2004, 04:38 AM A friend and fellow board member has some really nice Vintage tele pups in his partscaster and some excellent P-90's in a Historic LP. These pups have very good string balance and exceptional string definition...ehhh...I hope these layman terms are clear?? And they sound great too (you can really hear "the wood").
IMO Lollar is a true pupmaster.
I think I'll be needing a Lollar Precision bass pup soon
cheers
Erik
Roel from Holland October 28th, 2004, 07:06 AM Yep, fantastic pickups. I ordered a set of his Blackface Strat pu's last weekend. Can't wait to put 'em in my Hardtail Strat.
Scotland October 28th, 2004, 07:34 AM From what I read here and the sound clips on Acme, they seem to be top notch. Once I get another guitar I might just try them.
moonshiner October 28th, 2004, 10:32 AM Can someone post some links for info/clips?

Jason,
Said call them, "The Buck Cannon Tele set"
Seriously Folks! How cool is that 8)
The Bridge is just his "Vintage" the neck is Specially made to sound just like Roy Buchanans 53' Nancy... The Vintage Bridge he makes was already...Right on Roys tail..
It was modeled after some real 50's Teles... I tried a few different winds... but this one not only nailed it--the thing should be outlawed!... Its a headcutter!
Jasons got some kind of mojo conection! :D

"How cool is that?" Well Don....I'd say VERY COOL INDEED! You are correct sir, in the Jason Lollar/Mojo connection. I have yet to use, try or hear a pickup of Jasons that is not top notch. I've raved enough in the past about my strat set, so I'll leave it be ( for now! ) and just say if you are in the market for new pups, you would be hard pressed to find any finer than Jasons offerings. While there are many excellent makers of pickups today, ( and I have a veritable smorgessboard of various makers pups in my guitars ) I would be happy if Lollars were the only ones I ever used again. From vintage tele to hot strat to everything between, they are all good. His P-90's are just about the sweetest things I've ever heard. In my next chambered mahogany project, Jasons Imperial buckers will be spankin the plank and schmoozin da blooze.
Congrats on having your own signature pickups Don. Quite a sweet feat.
Hey Jason....how bout a set of BB BluesKing's in my honor???
Kingpin October 28th, 2004, 03:07 PM I'm a big fan of Jason's Charlie Christian for Telecaster neck pickup, and Jason gets high marks for his customer service too. After hearing about his vintage bridge pickup you have me itching to try one on my next Tele project!
kid deluxe October 29th, 2004, 06:34 AM I have a set of his Specials in my b-bender Tele.
After tryin 5 or 6 set of Duncans, Fender etc.

I've been looking at those as well. Are they "vintage" sounding or are they more modern sounding ?

They are vintage but with more mids and power. Close to the Fender Nocasters but the highs are smoother.
The bridge is pretty good and the neck is amazing. Very clear, strong, fat.
Has anybody tried his 52' Tele pups with Alnico 2??
How do they compare to the Duncan Alnico2?
