Anybody have any idea where to get parts for an Epi LP bass? I've got the body and neck, but I've been having much difficulty finding parts (bridge, tuners, pickups and wiring). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The only thing you have to be wary of is that if this LP bass has the 3-point bridge, don't get Gibson components. Gibson stuff has standard measurements whereas the Epiphone stuff is in metric. Some dummy put Epiphone saddles on my RD Artist. The fit is close, but no cigar.

I think hipshot do a replacement 3 point bridge that goes on the Epi's.

Rather than be up in the air like the standard fare it bolts solid on the body.

And Hipshot also lets you know it WILL damage the finish as a result... so if this is just a player, have at... if it's something you treasure, look elsewhere.
I own a few Gibson basses and initially hated the 3 point... but with time I realized it's actually a nicely designed bridge if set up properly.

Here's the bass. It's got 4 holes where the bridge would go. Is that still a 3-point bridge? I'm a little confused.....

Thanks for the help, guys!

Nope. That looks like the mounts for a Fender-style bridge that has four mounting screws.

Hey thanks for the help, fidopunk!

Now, anybody got a good suggestion of some good pickups for a reasonable price?

Thanks again, guys!

With a ruler and some work, you could use any old Fender 5 screw bridge, but with only a quick peek, I found this
http://store.guitarfetish.com/Bass-Guitar-Bridges_c_151.html
Who knows if the hole centers will line up. I've used this model before-- the intonation is set by hand, not like a Fender bridge where you screw the barrel back and forth.

Hey thanks! I've looked at guitarfetish.com for bass parts, but was afraid those wouldn't fit. I guess i could just take some measurements and email the guys over there. They've answered questions in the past for me about the tele I'm building and seem to be very helpful. I'll keep my eye on ebay too for an old fender bridge.

Thanks!

That looks like the LP special

Looks like it has odd sized pups too.

Yep, that's it. I got a good deal on it on ebay, but now I'm realizing it might be kind of difficult to get parts for- the pickups do seem to be odd sized.

Any ideas where to get pups for this thing?

why not route it for two Jazz pickups and then hide the excess original routes with a pick guard... It'd look more like the basses Gibson was producing in the 70's like the Grabber and Ripper.

Or you could buy the pickups on eBay:

Tim, I like to looks for things myself too, I had just had difficulty finding parts for this bass, so I started asking here.

I appreciate the link, and feel a little dumb for not finding those, I looked on evilbay, but could not find pups for a LP bass!

Thanks for your input, guys!

If they are odd sized pups why would any one rip them out. They're hardly going to fit anything else :confused::confused:

I think the seller just wanted to part the whole thing out. Maybe make more money on it that way?

The seller in Tim's link above is the same seller I bought it from on ebay, so that would be my guess.

I didn't mean to sound snarky (if indeed it sounded that way), I really DO love going digging on the Internot!

And yep, I'd bet you'd be reuniting the bass with its pickups!

You didn't sound snarky, Tim! I'd looked everywhere I could think of on the ol' net and was starting to second guess myself for buying that bass! I appreciate you posting that link, for some reason it was elusive to me!

And yes, I'm about 99% positive that I'll end up putting the same pickups back in that bass that were taken out right before I bought it!
