Hello all. After way to much analysis and basically driving myself crazy, I went ahead and took the plunge on a set of Fralin Twangmasters for my 72 Thinline RI. I had a new pickguard made by wd music. Sadly all of the holes didn't line up but oh well. It was only 3 holes so I just left those screws out for now. I'll figure out a solution later. Stuck with 250k pots and added fralin's volume kit to the volume pot. They are 8400 winds in the neck and 9400 bridge. Before it's said by someone else, I know Lollar is making a wrhb replacement and I'm sure it's fantastic. I just think the twangmaster was more of what I was looking for. Now I've only had it for a couple days but I really like it so far. I love the sounds of the neck pup and neck plus bridge. The bridge alone doesn't do a ton for me. At least, I haven't found much use for it. All I know is finally my fender sounds like a fender and still maintains the look that was originally intended. I'll update with pics later if anyone is interested. Now all I need is a replacement speaker for my pro junior and some good locking tuners and hopefully I'll be able to put my G.A.S. to bed for a bit. Haha yeah right. Anyhow if anyone is interested in these pickups go ahead and shoot a reply. I'll be glad to tell you what I've found so far. There's not much info out there in cyberspace.

I put a twangmaster in the neck of a customer's guitar, loved it. I think they sound best with slight overdrive, real sweet sound.

Just wanted to share a pic of my tele. I love it more every time I play it. I've been a strat guy all my life, but this tele was like "butta." I can't put it down! Anyhow, the it looks like the honey blond finish in the pic but it's more white than that. Kinda like a transparent cream color, if that's possible. The twangmasters are growing on me. These are super sensitive to your controls on the amp and pedals, not that that's a bad thing. It does take a while to get everything dialed in, though.

How would you say the Twangmasters compare to a standard Tele bridge PU (single-coil) in sound?
I'm debating on a PU (put in middle position) in addition to my Duncan Antiquity bridge PU. Not sure about an underwound P90, to a P92, to a Twangmaster. Want to get some grit for slide etc.

Honestly I would just call Fralin's shop. He answers the phone himself more often than not and he is a wealth of knowledge. In my opinion though, the twangmaster doesn't sound like it would make a natural transition to slide. Like deaconque said it sounds much better when dirt is added. While it's a great pup, it won't provide any dirt of it's own. I would go for an underwound P90 but that's just me.

Thanks. After more web research today, I seem to be leaning towards an underwound P90, and planned to call Lindy tomorrow.
