I have never done it on nitro. But from what I've read those guitars can be buffed to a shiny finish. I have done it with a poly satin neck and it came out very nice. However, it's a lot of work doing it by hand and I think you would get far better results letting a good tech do it on a buffing wheel.

I've used Finesse It II and a plain old car buffer. Worked like a charm and put a glassy shine on the nitro in just a few minutes.

Yes you can buff your satin finish to a gloss.

I would use an automotive rubbing compound, followed by a swirl mark remover, followed by a glaze/wax.

+1 on all the remarks above. I polished my satin sun burst Hw1 body by hand and it looked great afterwards .Nitro will keep on polishing ,it never really dries .

Hmmmm - I have a satin finish neck made by Mighty Mite - would that be nitro that is on there?

I doubt it, but you can buff any type of finish. You just can't wet sand all types of finishes.
