wildeyepottery September 11th, 2010, 12:10 PM Howdy Folks I'm building an Esquire and I figured some of y'uns might like to see the progress. Its a snakehead esquire pine body with a regular tele headstock neck. As of right now I have all the parts, I'm just waiting on the body to get back after being painted. Here is the parts list:
Axetreme Creations Pine Body
ReRanch Coral Nitrocellulose lacquer, sealer, and clear coat
Allparts Nitro Tele Neck CHUNKY FAT C
Fender American Three Piece Tele Bridge
Fender Vintage Tuning Machines
Fender 1 Meg Solid Shaft Volume Pot
Fender 250k No-Load Tone Pot
Fender Original Tele String Guide
Fender Original Tele Ferrules
Fender F Logo Neck Plate
Lindy Fralin Blues Special Tele Bridge Pickup
Fender Ashtray Bridge Cover (Just for looks when I show it off, I hate playing with them on)
Headstock Logo says "Felix" instead of Fender, because thats my nickname. If it looks too cheesy then I'll change it. Thanks to Trey off of Ebay Auction for hooking this up.
Fender Barrel Knobs
And by the way, I'm 17 and this is my first build, so if anybody has any tips it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

russ September 11th, 2010, 12:38 PM Looks cool!
Just curious, why the 1-meg vol. pot?
robt57 September 11th, 2010, 12:38 PM Is the body 1-1/2" thick ? And is the body laminated 3/4" x 2 like the proto, or 1-1/2" thick. I did the 1-1/2" thick on this one, still gotta do the snake head neck when I get moving in the shop... I recently put a Pre B1 Dimarzio in it, and boy it got a lot more fun to crank out nasty notes with it. ;)
wildeyepottery September 11th, 2010, 12:46 PM Good Question....I want it to sound obnoxious. If its too over the top, then I'll rip it out and throw a 500k in it or something.
wildeyepottery September 11th, 2010, 12:49 PM To robt57, yes it is the 1 1/2" thick pine body, I honestly don't know if it is the laminated body or not, maybe I shoulda looked into that.....but now its to late haha. I like yours alot it looks sick!

250k Vol pot wire to the jack 1-1/2" away. No tone or cap or nothing... There is probably like 12" of wire MAX in there.. how is that for raw.
I started with a Tex Mex I made a baseplate for, but the Pre-B1 suites the nasty side of playing this in rowdy mode.
wildeyepottery September 12th, 2010, 02:48 AM Haha thats SICK! I like the wiring idea. With mine I'm going to run the 1 meg volume and 250k no load tone so it will cut it out of the circuit at 10. The pickup is 5% overwound too. I wanted to buy the 15% overwound one. I have no idea what it will sound like. I just figure that if its too obnoxious then I'll switch pots.
Is your neck truss rod adjustment at the heel or headstock? Mine is at the heel, and I will probably run into a problem whenever I try to adjust it, because there is no cut out access area. But I don't know yet because I havent had the chance to fit the neck to the body.
Swoop September 12th, 2010, 03:02 AM That's a really nice looking neck.
chillman September 12th, 2010, 06:28 PM I like this project, I'm looking forward to seeing the result!
wildeyepottery September 13th, 2010, 05:10 PM Yeah its a great neck, especially for only $180 new! Its an allparts fat c tinted nitro neck.
wildeyepottery September 14th, 2010, 11:03 PM I'm getting the body back tomorrow from the painter. I'll have some pics of the assembly tomorrow!

Its still not finished. I haven't got the headstock sticker in the mail yet. I'm gwyne' to have to start working on the pickguard, and then I'm gwyne' to put "Made in Akansaw" on the back of the headstock. I lost the nut that came with the neck and I haven't cut this one good yet. Does anybody have any tips for cutting the nut for the string slots?
