Wanted to do something with a Texas theme for a long time. At first I thought about a California theme, but Avocado guitars don't work. First I was just going to add some things to one of his BarnBurners but I'd seen some amazing furniture made from Mesquite and there was a fellow who had an article about building a Strat out of Mesquite. Couple of people have done them on TDPRI also. I found a guy who builds pool tables out of Mesquite and he had some large rough cut wood. I knew it was dense but didn't figure on how much the stuff cracks near the figured areas. Ron noticed I wasn't too happy with how big the cracks were in the best pieces (beyond just character in the wood) and came up with a great alternative that keeps the theme and both the Strat and the Tele will be light and have a recognizable sound; Mesquite caps over Alder. We're doing some other neat stuff with the theme. He commented the only time he's used Mesquite was for BBQ's as well. Hoodie, in Texas we call them little critters sparrows spelled Mosquito. The Alice's Restaurant story was mostly based on real events, the garbage story, the church, the blind judge, the 27 colour 8x10's etc as well as most of the aspects of the draft story. Guthrie was demonstrating through the song that even the lightest criminal record meant it was easier to dodge the draft. Officer Obie died in 1994. kwerk February 10th, 2011, 05:14 PM Ok, before I get flamed, I've just discovered that Guthrie's own website has this wrong, the original cover I posted was not Obanheim at all.. sure looks like him though, but is in fact a guy named Clemens. The township was set aside for the tribe as a reward for their assistance against the French in the French and Indian Wars. The Reverend John Sergeant from Newark, New Jersey was their missionary. Sergeant was succeeded in this post by Jonathan Edwards, a notable Christian theologian associated with the First Great Awakening. First chartered as Indian Town in 1737, it was officially incorporated on June 22, 1739 as Stockbridge, named after Stockbridge in Hampshire, England. Although the Massachusetts General Court made an assurance that the Indians' land could never be sold, it was rescinded. Despite their further help during the Revolutionary War, the tribe was relocated first to New York State, then to Wisconsin. The village was taken over by English settlers. With the arrival of the railroad in 1850, Stockbridge developed as a summer resort for the wealthy. Many large houses called Berkshire Cottages were built in the area before World War I and the advent of income tax. One estate on the Lenox border, Tanglewood, is today the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Since 1853, Stockbridge has benefited from the presence of the Laurel Hill Association, a village beautification society. The Stockbridge Bowl Association maintains and preserves the natural beauty of Stockbridge Bowl and the surrounding Bullard Woods. Stockbridge was also the home to Elizabeth Freeman, late in her life. The former slave who was one of the petitioners in the lawsuit that had slavery declared unconstitutional in Massachusetts, Freeman worked in the household of the Massachusetts statesman Judge Theodore Sedgwick. She is buried in the Sedgwick family cemetery. Famed 19th century literary figure, Catharine Maria Sedgwick, was born in Stockbridge in 1789. She is the author of six novels including her most famous, Hope Leslie (1827). The town has a tradition as an art colony. Sculptor Daniel Chester French lived and worked at his home and studio called Chesterwood. Norman Rockwell painted many of his works in Stockbridge, home to the Norman Rockwell Museum. - wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockbridge,_Massachusetts) telleutelleme February 11th, 2011, 12:55 PM I've looked through all my Saturday Evening Post Magazines and I don't see Penny anywhere.
