I have a frankenstrat and need an extra pot hole for some mods. The tone pot on my middle pickup never gets used...but I always have it set on the 5 setting. Could I just wire in a 125k resistor with an appropriate cap across it and eliminate the pot?....will it really sound the same? I haven't seen any dual concentric 250k pots around..... :?

Yes you can substitute a fixed resistor for the pot.
But, and I say again, but, unless you have a linear pot (not likely) the mid position won't be half the max value. You really should measure the pot's resistance at the middle setting and see what that really is.

Russinator is right. An audio pot is not linear. It's resistance from the wiper is not 50% of its total value. Generally 75-80% of the total resistance appears between the wiper and the clockwise terminal when rotated to the middle. Since the 250K is wired so the cap is connected to the CCW side, your resistor value would be 20-25% of total or 50-60K.

As Russinator said, set it where u like it and measure it. Fortunately the cap is an open circuit to a DC ohmmeter so circuit loading from the pickups and volume control is not an issue.
