Neck Pickup transfers noise..?!?!?

I'm working on my old Tele. I sold it six months ago.
The problem is that the neck pickup, a MiJ US made paisley pickup, transmits noise.

When you tap on the cover, you can hear it really loud through the amp.

Is this normal, or does it need to be waxed, or something?

Never bothered me, but the guy I sold it to actually plays in a band and cranks it up pretty loud.. I never play out of the bedroom...

Thanks for any insights!

Sounds to be Micro-phonic...lot less hassle to just replace it with something he likes.

yep, I think that is it. I'll wax pot it. The pickup is awesome in this guitar. Don't want to change the formula by changing the pickup.

I used to have a neck pickup that I could talk through, it was so microphonic! Heaven help me if I tried to play into any kind of pedal or high-gain device with it, horrible shrill unmusical feedback!
