Hi,

im thinking of buying a 1976 silverface deluxe reverb for $1000, are these amps any good and is the price too much?

hard to say , I just bought one in mint ( but very dirty) all original condition for much less. If the amp is nice I think $1000 is the high end ( seen them for even more ) and $800 ish at the lower end.

76 was the last year before no boost...66 thru 76 were supposedly identical with exception of the front panel.( BF to SF) 77 and above included the pull boost knob, just to be sure you have a 76... If the amp is really nice and mint maybe $1000 is not bad, I think I stumbled on my deal anyway...

good luck

Condition, originality, location?

I think these are the most important considerations. If it's here in the UK $1000 (£635) is a good price. This is the last 1976 to go on UK ebay:

I bought my 1972 for around £700 and I thought I got a good amp for that price.

There are differences between Blackface Deluxe Reverbs and the 1976s Silverface Deluxe Reverbs, but they are minor.

Not true, sorry.
