Hi guys,

I know this has probably been covered, but I'm new to the forum (I was here regularly a couple of years ago, but it's been so long I had to re-register).

Do any of you fellow Los Angeles, CA, guitar players have suggestions for a good place to get a refret on my late-70's rosewood fretboard Tokai strat?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Between Redondo Beach & Long Beach. Not that it makes much difference. I'm willing to drive a while if it's for great fret work.

I can recommend (without any hesitation) the following two excellent people:

1- Closer to you: Paul Flynn at Truetone Music in Santa Monica. An incredible repair/setup guy and musician.
310-393-8232

2- A little further, but my MAIN man: Brett at Renson Guitar in Studio City. 818-761-4766

Both of these guys are brilliant, and more importantly, honest and nice people to work with. Cheers!

Brett and Norick (Renson) in Studio City are only open Tuesday-Friday, while Eric's Guitar Shop in Van Nuys (405 Fwy and Roscoe) is open Monday-Saturday. Sometimes you need something when you need it. Eric has done a full refret for me while Brett and Norick have done a bit of everything. Extremely nice people all around.

I don't know anything about this company but I've heard only amazing things about the Plek machine. I would have it done if I lived where there was one. There is one in SF, one in Nashville (Joe Glaser's shop) and one in LA.
