I was a huge 10,000 Maniacs fan back in the 80s & early 90s (still love 'em) ... wandered away from the band when she left ... lost track of Natalie over the years.

Pretty much my story exactly. I love her voice and was a big Maniacs fan then and still am. Glad she is still making music.

Natalie's a true talent with an instantly recognizable voice. "I don't want to be shaking my booty when I'm 55" :lol: She always seemed down to earth. But what's with all those ballet poses and hand flourishes?

Same here, but I did get Tigerlily when it came out; which btw... is really good. There are a handful beyond that; obviously, which I'd never heard of until the google I just performed... :lol:

* 1995: Tigerlily
* 1998: Ophelia
* 2001: Motherland
* 2003: The House Carpenter's Daughter
* 2010: Leave Your Sleep

I love the name; Ophelia... It's so... 19th century, :mrgreen: In addition to which my Maternal Grandmother; Mora, had a sister named Ophelia...:wink:

I honestly can't stand her.

But I realize that's a personal problem of mine, and mean to cast no aspersions on your collective tastes!

Her live album ( Live In Concert ) is also a great album. I saw her live a few years ago. She has such a powerful energy on stage (subtle but with great impact...does that make sense?).

She had a really nice little contribution to the Woody Guthtie records Billy Bragg and Wilco recorded too.

I understand that. I can listen to one song of hers, maybe two, but that's it. She always sounds like she's singing the same notes with the same inflections over and over. I feel the same way about Jay Farrar.

Although I think they're both very talented, they aren't usually on my play list.

Interesting... I love Merchant's voice. I cannot stand Farrar, I can't get past his voice to hear his music.
