This week's album is INXS " Kick ." Released in October 1987, this gem was played to death on the radio and MTV ( yep, they played videos back then ). If you are a INXS fan ( I am ), you would see this album as the next logical progression from " Listen Like Thieves." My favorite song on this album by far is " Mystify." Listening to this makes me even more sorry for the untimely death of Mike Hutchence. He was the quintessential lead man. Go back and give this album a spin, you will not be disappointed.
I have included the video for " Need You Tonight." Great vid, Thinline Tele action and in HD!

I've always been more into "Shabooh Shoobah" and "Listen Like Thieves." I never really got into "The Swing" or "Kick." Of course, it didn't help that "Kick" was played to death, as you mentioned, and picked up the accompanying mass of (at times) moronic fans.
Yesterday, I happened to watch INXS' perform "The One Thing" at the US Festival. It's a really good performance.

Me, too. I really like the original video, too, and the way they ride out of the warehouse at the end.
I recall a band member saying the song has been their closing concert number since they wrote it.

Did a lot of their tunes in a cover band back in the day. Good stuff.

As an Aussie, it's really pleasing for me to read that there's a lot of love for INXS outside Australia. You don't really hear much of their stuff on Australian radio these days. Maybe I listen to the wrong stations.
They were a staple on the setlist of countless cover bands back in the 80's. At various times I've covered Don't Change, Listen Like Thieves and Suicide Blonde. I think one of our singers went to school with the Farriss brothers or something.
I'm still stunned by the stupidity of Michael Hutchences' death.
