So after a late gig, getting in at 3:00am and not being able to sleep, I was awake at 7:30. Let's take the dog down to the lake and let him swim, play and run.
Off we go.
There's a lake near here where one complete side of it is a dog park and it's a very popular spot. The only problem is, one of the little beach areas where a lot of dogs go dashing into the water has several large rocks in the shallows. Many dogs trip over these rocks and injure themselves as they run full speed into the lake chasing a tennis ball or a stick.
Now I don't know what possessed me to do this but, I walked into the water and started pulling the big rocks from the bottom and rolling them to the shore. 2 1/2 hours later the entire area was clear of rocks and dogs seem to really enjoy it.
The rocks got there because people throw them on to the ice during the winter trying to break it. The area ends up littered with big rocks on the ice until it melts and they fall though.
I built a small jetty going 15 feet out into the lake for the little dogs and the main bulk of rocks I threw into a big pile. I'll bet there's a 1/2 ton of rock total sitting by the shore.
When puzzled pet owners asked, "why are you doing this?" I told them, "I'm doing it for the dogs." I feel a lot better knowing Speedy isn't going to injure himself the way I've seen other dogs get hurt there.
Anyway, as dead tired as I am now it felt good to do something useful especially since I have not been very physically active for while now.
