Blind Faith, Can't find my way home...Vulture June 16th, 2010, 06:00 PM Everybody's in pretty good form here & a decent recording. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUW1SGF7bR8&feature=related hekawi June 16th, 2010, 07:15 PM indeed. one of my all-time favorite songs. i'll help you out with the youtube posting: mUW1SGF7bR8 elihu June 16th, 2010, 08:24 PM Hyde Park! Makes me want to buy a Marshall to go with my tele. :!: Steve Winwood cracking a note sounds better than most people singing. Shame this band didn't last longer. And I gotta add this. Vulture June 16th, 2010, 11:09 PM indeed. one of my all-time favorite songs. i'll help you out with the youtube posting: mUW1SGF7bR8 Thanks! Stubee June 17th, 2010, 12:23 AM I love that tune & have performed it countless times. I do a simple walk down/open chording thing starting w. D 1st position, with partial chords w. open strings walking down thru the rest of it. I've done it w. Fenders but usually use a flattop. Most of my friends don't know it but can play along OK. Great song for lead if my group can keep the main thing going. Think I've done it in every tempo from the link here to a slow, kinda jazzy crawl. My only problem is I can't sting like Stevie Winwood. Oh well. I like that album and also do "Thorn Tree in the Garden" a lot. Women seem to love that one. Also fiddle with "Presence of the Lord" but that one really needs a band to kick it along when it gets hoppin'. Nice link, thanks. jjkrause84 June 17th, 2010, 06:08 AM I always thought it was an over=rated song and an under-rated album.....definitely one of my favourite albums of all time. BB June 17th, 2010, 07:37 AM It's one of those songs that takes me back in time to a ggod place! Good memories associated with that song and album. Along with ELP's 'From The Beginning', one of the first songs I play when testing acoustics in a music store. karlanfs June 17th, 2010, 11:37 AM YES! We just learned this song in my last group lesson -- we were travis-picking the whole time, but it is still a fun song to play! But, I like Widespread Panic's rendition more than Blind Faith's.. EDIT: After watching the amazing live versions offered in this thread.. I retract my previous statement.. but, I still don't care much for the version on the Blind Faith album. stealyerface June 17th, 2010, 11:42 AM One of my favorite tunes of all time. Check out this version to see just how timeless Winwood's voice is... of course the "backing band" is kind of an All-Star team... Watch Winwood's glance at Clapton after the last note. Sometimes you know when you hit the pocket. Brilliant. **EDIT** Great tone out of that Thinline too!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT-SFgkVlno syf dmrogers June 17th, 2010, 02:39 PM One of my favorite videos! I have it linked on my web page. That type of music is timeless, and takes me back to a happy time. Kinda depressing when you compare it to so much of what is considered music today. |
