lovemytele2 June 1st, 2010, 08:15 PM just got the tweaker with the matching 1*12" cab. what a great amp for very little money. it does vox, fender and marshall and it gets great crunch up to useable metal tones. the cleans are like a bell. played with a marshall cab with 2*12 and the sound was monsterous. if your looking for a low wattage sound machine look no further.
Canuckcaster June 1st, 2010, 10:32 PM I've been looking for these to show up locally so I can try one out. I'm glad you're enjoying yours.

vanr June 1st, 2010, 11:04 PM Played one today. Thinking of picking up the head when I off-load some unused gear. Just so you will know, talk is you can sub in 6L6's and EL34's in that amp, (have to remove the heat vent from the top and install them from the top) although it doesn't increase the wattage it does change the tone. I'm not a fan of 6V6's at all so if I get the head I'll probably load it with EL34's.

telel6s June 2nd, 2010, 11:12 AM I need to check one of these out. I've got a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia head just sitting around since I'm not doing any gigs. I play my Fenders in the house. I wonder if the Tweaker could take the place of a small, portable head for about half the price of the Ghia.

HT-20

HT-20 VS Night train, I think would take the Night Train myself. But youtube is hardly the way to choose, considering I have not plugged into either.
Jayson June 2nd, 2010, 12:23 PM I hate the Night Train, and I don't know why. It's all spite- because it's SUCH a great amp. I saw a GC employee rocking an electric Ukulele through one. Yum.
The Tweaker seems pretty cool to this bystander, though.
robt57 June 2nd, 2010, 12:30 PM A well respected friend and player told me he played through a Night Train for 20 minutes at GC. He averages 20 seconds plugged into most amps. His #1 is a AC30 Head FWIW.
tgfmike June 2nd, 2010, 12:51 PM Congrats lmt.

I just threw the HT-20 out there, I haven't played through one.
I actually ordered a HT-5 for high gain at bedroom volumes If I like it enough, I may get one of the larger ones for gigging.

The HT-20 seems cheap enough as a combo as to scare me a little. Much like the Bulgeras, but conjecture on my part...
But I have learned to trust my instinct/conjecture generally. ;)

BTW, HNAD to the OP!
The Blackstar's are actually more comparable to the Vox's price wise. The HT studio 20 is the same price as an AC15C1. The HT-5 combo is $499 at MF. Maybe you are thinking of Blackhearts?
Ringo June 2nd, 2010, 07:16 PM I've had a Tweaker head for a couple of weeks now, I found a 15% off coupon and got mine shipped for $339 as I recall. For the $ I think it's a lot of amp.
I have a Robert Hinson Z28 clone head too, the Tweaker won't replace it but it's a nice addition and so far I haven't found a bad tone in it.
I've been using it with a 1-12 semi open back cab with a Vintage 30 and it sounds great.
Eventually I'll get around to trying some different tubes, you can use 6V6s, 6L6s or EL34s, or variations thereof.
The stock tubes sound good so I'll wear them out first:smile:

ElephantMan June 3rd, 2010, 01:42 AM O.K. I got my hands on one of these earlier tonight at the local GC. MAN! I gotta have it. I played a Squier Classic Vibe Tele (not enough can be said about that guitar). It does it all pretty well. If I had to complain about something, it would be the lack of reverb. I also played through the Marshall Class 5 (which I still want). It was cool, but it was just a Marshall. I couldn't get quite there on the Egnator, but pretty darn close to the Class 5. Anyway, looks like none of the online stores will have any of these until at least the end of the week. I'd rather order one with free shipping & no sales tax at the sticker price.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the Tweaker is way small. The head is about the size of a standard shoebox. The cabinet may be the size of a Blues Jr. You could put this thing anywhere out of the way. Another plus.
broncstomper June 17th, 2010, 01:28 PM what are the dimensions of the tweaker cab
hooch1 June 17th, 2010, 03:06 PM I've got the combo.
This a sweet little amp that has a ton of great tones. Its not an exact copy of a tone like a modeling amp but its in the same general vicinity. It has its own sound that is really good.
The lack of reverb doesn't bother me since it has a loop. The thing that bothers me the most is a lack of a footswitch for the gain. But you can setup a good base sound and throw a tubescreamer in front for that.
broncstomper June 17th, 2010, 10:51 PM picked up the head and 112 cab today.I am amazed at what this thing can do.people were lined up to by these things.they had three and sold two of em while i was there. Had a 20 percent off coupon so got head and cab for 519.
fly135 June 18th, 2010, 11:41 AM I wouldn't want a Night Train because it has no FX loop. I just put my HT-5 head on CL for $225. If it sells I'm getting a Tweaker.
