Happy Tele May 27th, 2010, 01:23 PM 1. get it out of layaway
2. buy a mint pickguard that is routed in the neck for a humbucker
3. remove stock pickups
4. put a Fender OV in the bridge
5. put a SD Seth Lover HB in the neck
6. change pots to 300K
7. caps? .o22 or.047?
Is this a good plan?
Louthunder May 27th, 2010, 04:53 PM This is a good plan for you. Put in a 4 way pup selector sw too, and go w/both caps. For me though, I love that little sucker just the way she is! I did have plans to do a little overhaul, but after playing it in a live gig situation,I love it just the way it is!! I will probably build a tele next, and do some crazy things to that one! Good luck!
CyanideJunkie May 28th, 2010, 02:56 PM 0.47 caps should do the trick.
Jeru May 28th, 2010, 03:08 PM Good plan -- bet it'll be just as nice as my modified CIJ Custom (http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w234/joshuarosie/DSC_00401158-1.jpg) for about 1/3 less!
Play hard, have fun.

looks great!
robt57 May 28th, 2010, 10:41 PM Sound like a cool plan, CVCs, do they have a HB route ?
I am thinking the SH-55 with Alnico II mags at the neck both a .022 and 500k vol pot might be the best starting point.

.
Yup, didnt even know that when I bought it. Its almost begging to be Keefed.
robt57 May 28th, 2010, 11:03 PM Make sense they would, my 50s CV body I got used does.
Happy Tele May 29th, 2010, 12:41 AM think im gonna order the seth lover and a fender 375ohm alpha pot the ones used in thier 52 hotrod teles.
think I might use the broadcaster wiring with blend and mes with cap values
its gonna be sweet@!
robt57 May 29th, 2010, 12:46 AM Are you going to use a HB pickup ring on top of the Tele pick guard ala Keef, or just let the nickle cover peak through a HB size clean cutout in the Tele Pick Guard ? I always thought the pickup ring over the guard looks a bit kludgy, but personal preference I guess.
