baja wiring question

I'm in the process of wiring up my 68 thinline with an S1 switch, and a 4 position toggle switch.

I have a seymour duncan mini humbucker in the neck position, and It looks like in the wiring diagram, the neck pu should have 3 wires coming from it. Mine only has 2, on of them is a mesh wire that's wraped around the outside, which was used for ground on the old wiring.

Do I need to add another ground wire to the neck pu? Also, how do I determine which wires go where with the neck pu, as they are not the same colour as in the diagram. I'm assuming that the black wire is positive, and the other one is neg.

Thanks

Which S1 diagram are you using?

EDIT: sorry, just saw the titie.

Fender diagram <-> SD mini hum
yellow <-> one of the conductors
black <-> one of the conductors
green <-> braided shield

Not sure which of the two conductors are hot/cold. You may have to experiment to see which way will give you the right phase.

I just checked my SD pickup again, and there is only one conductor, and the braided sheild. I guess it's a single conductor humbucker. Can I still do the baja type wiring?

Not really.

Two choices. Have a trained person dismantle the leads on the minibucker and convert it into the multiple leads version.

Or sell that one and order the same pickup in the multiple leads version.

Shoot.

What will happen if I just connect the hot and ground to the two terminals on the s1 switch, and then run another ground from the case of the SD pickup?

Ok, tried that, and didn't work.

Can I still do just the 4 position parallel/series wiring with the 2 lead pickup?

Like this?

Does Anyone know if the above wiring diagram requires 2 conductors on the neck PU. It looks like it, but I just want to make sure.

I'm trying to determine my options for this SD mini humbucker.

Thanks

If you just want to try the 4 way, wire it such that the shield goes where the black wire goes and ignore the wire to the cover. You'll most likely get extra noise on some positions, but it should allow you to see if you like the sound.

I suspect that mini HB in series with the bridge might be a little too muddy IMHO.
