VOX AC4TV Cigar Box

Hey. New guy here. I didn't want to just "show up" at the forum here without offering some profound question for the experts or some other random piece of interesting material.

I have no profound questions, so I'm putting forth one of my latest projects for your visual entertainment.

I got a smokin' hot deal on a used AC4TVH head off craigs in some far away city. The stock VOX cabinet has some visual appeal, but I didn't like the fact that the controls are at the back and I wanted a smaller footprint for my small bedroom playing area.

I built this box from random garage scraps. It's mostly pine and features an expanded steel top for maximum tube ventilation. The placement of the amp in this cabinet orients the tubes vertical, which also helps cooling and prevents heating the little PCB.

I built a little switch box so that I can share the 12" speaker with my Classic 30. I played the VOX combo's at the store a few times, and they sound great for what they are, but the sound is 100% better coming from a big broken-in 12 incher in a larger cabinet.

A hearty welcome to you Trout!

Now that is one COOL living room head! I'd love to have something like that on a bookshelf or desk, run into a nice stained wood cabinet that is serving as an end table or something. Nice work!

This looks fantastic. I'd even consider a Vox if it would look like that

A more recent picture with the amp in its place on the shelf between the speaker switch and the Holy Grail reverb. The amp is sporting a set of knobs off a 70's Pioneer receiver. The HG really made this amp complete.
