First gig with my tweed Deluxe pushing an Eminence 1518.
Total magic. I'm completely hooked.
I did notice, though, that I am now COMPLETELY married to the BBE sonic Stomp.
This box really makes that set-up come alive.

Charlie:
Thanks for the report. Can you say more about what you like about this rig? And is it a stock 5E3 (i.e., 6V6s and 5Y3)? I'm especially curious because I've been wondering about a 2nd amp and am considering building a 5E3, perhaps rigged for 6L6s, in a tweed Pro cab with a Legend 1518.
Thanks.

Cool. With the 15" does the amp essentially become a mid-50s Pro? Also, what's the BBE? Sounds interesting.

Bob...the amp is the one in my avatar, and it's pretty stock.
I also have a Li'l Dawg clone. I could plug in some 6L6's and try to give you a report.
My gut reaction, though, is that it might not be that great.
IMO, 6L6's make a 5E3 a little slow and mushy. That 5Y3 gives plenty of sag, and the 6L6's give it even more.
I'm thinking that it's already a bit much, and along with the 15....just my personal taste, though. I play in a 7-piece band and look for ways to get my sound and have the kind of articulation that will cut through the mix when necessary.
Disclosure: I have been using humbuckers lately...so that makes a big difference.
A Tele has less trouble cutting through.
The sound I'm getting is just big, fat and round...it just sounds amazing.
Like all the great stuff about a tweed Deluxe and more of it.
I couldn't be happier.
DMace...If you google the BBE Sonic Stomp, you'll hear their description.
To be totally honest, it sounds like a bit of snake oil to me...but whatever it is, it sounds great.
I'm pretty sure that this is the gizmo that started the taking-the-blanket-off-the-amp cliche. But it's true. Best $7 I've ever spent! But I doubt you'll find one at the same price ;)
