Hi guys, thought i may as well introduce myself on the forum as i've been a member for a while now.

I found this forum by accident, as my girfriend bought me a "Twang - telecaster.com" T-shirt last Christmas, and tried the URL. I'm glad i did, as this forum is pretty excellent, and i've learnt a fair bit from just scouring the forum pages.

I taught myself to play my fathers guitar (a hardly used Strat style Epiphone), using theory i learnt from playing the Piano and various brass instruments i learnt in school. This was about 10 years ago, and it was to impress a girl (it failed, miserably ) and i played on and off until i joined a band called The Heretics - a funk/jazz/soul/ska outfit based in Swansea, South Wales, and my playing has improved no-end ever since. We're getting bigger and bigger every month, starting to play festivals and have supported a few big acts, with a 7 date support slot for a well known American "Ska" group booked for September 2010!

I used to be a sound-engineer, and I've gotten really into the tech side of playing recently, and i have built my own Cabinet, originally to make an old WEM clubman louder and giggable, but have used it with a few different heads of late.

I bought a Shine tele style guitar off fleabay for £35, and IMHO its the best guitar i have, the tuners are excellent - they stay in tune (relative to each other) for weeks, and it has an fabulous tele twang to boot. I recently converted it into an Esquire, as i never really used the neck pick up, and used it as an excuse to make a new pickguard out of an old Vinyl LP (a vintage country compilation - quite fitting i thought) - it looks and plays awesome, as i left the 3way switch in the tele set-up, now giving me a Tom Morello style on/off switch, which is pretty useful, and allows for some inventive playing!

My aim for the near future is to build my own guitar, i love the tele shape, and my plans are to build an esquire style guitar with a coil tapped HB with a whammy, i'm well versed in woodworking, and hopefully it should prove to be a good result; i'll post the images when work begins

So thats the guitarist me i suppose.............

Welcome my son.

Sound engineering background eh? Me thinks we can expect your participation in our more lively threads such as "will a vintage strap button clean up my mids?".

well, heres a pic of my Cab + Head, and the esquire, i'll get the rest of my gear up when i can get back to the band house (its all currently packed up for a mini tour we're on this w/e)

And no, i doubt i'll get to into silly topics like will a vintage strap button clean up my mids, i'm using a fat screw from my caravan awning and a milk bottle top as a strap button on my DC LP, so i doubt its a sensible area for me to contribute in!

The Cab is yet to be covered, i just havent got round to doing it, adn i kinda like the ghetto look tbh, and i might just leave the head as it is - it looks like a battered old radio device. Relic? well no, just an old wardrobe door!
